But councils cannot have that kind of money, can they?

The government is giving billions to the regions supposedly making things more accountable by diverting money spent centrally by Whitehall to the regions with regional mayors. Liverpools regional mayor is Steve Rotherham a Liverpool fan Unfortunetly most of the Liverpool city council including leader joe Anderson are Everton fans. If Liverpool had redeveloped Stanley park there was money to support that development but Liverpool chose to redevelop anfield. Everton have stepped into the space and that money is being used to help fund Everton's new stadia.

For all the talk about Everton getting a new 50k+ seater stadium they can't even fill their 12 seater garden shed they call goodison.

New year's day and their stadium was empty.

That's problably correct but Everton are planning for the future and planning to improve their club status.

At best they'll just be another Newcastle, how has a bigger stadium helped the latter?

I thought you could as you’ve pretty much said we have no future with not getting a new stadium?

I think it will catch us out eventually yes. No future at all might be an exaggeration but in future our infrastructure will be lacking. Call me naive but I would like the club to be successful in all aspects. This is not my opinion almost all our rivals are doing what I am suggesting are those boards of directors wrong ?

If you are talking about Spurs and even Everton, they are not as their stadium are very small and probably no potential to increase capacity. We can increase our number of seats to match everybody except United, so there is no reason to start from scratch. Even if we built a brand new stadium the capacity would have been 60k, same as we can get to by spending a third the money.
