That performance yesterday doesn't make a challenge any easier that's for sure, nor does it boost ones confidence either. There was three points there for us yesterday, had we gone for it, but we went for the draw, not the stuff of title winners IMO. However there's enough games to play and City are likely to slip up at some point, also we could potentially take three points off them at their place, but we'll have to have the bottle to go for it. Somehow I feel yesterday says something about us that I find disconcerting, and I have to say my optimism has taken a hit. Arsenal were playing with a cobbled up defence, yet we played for a draw??? If it was raining soup would you go out with a fork in your hand? It was definitely a winable game.

You could also say that we were unfortunate to not win. We hade a perfectly legitimate goal disallowed.
And with our goalscoring luck from last year we would probably have banged in at least 3 with the chances we created and missed yesterday.
But our midfield hasn't improved with our defence since last year. Klopp must feel strange about that, because he waited a full year on Keita, and Fabinho came with such a good reputation. Keita doesn't seem to be any better than what we already had, and Fab is plain slow.
But I guess that's what you can get if you go shopping outside the UK. Leagues are a bit slower, which can mask a players' slowness and he can get away with it. I mean some players just adapt instantly and get on with it - Like Torreira and Jorginho.
We will just have to hope that those 2 improve and turn out good in the end, because I can't see us spending that kind of money on yet another central midfielder in the near future.
The feeling about Keita and Fab is a bit discouraging at the moment really.
The up side is that not all our games in PL will be like yesterday, and we have already played the other top rivals once without a loss. I hope we can get back to dominating other teams as soon as possible. And CL games aren't that fast and tough all the time either. We have a good opportunity in our group with the players at hand, and with time Klopp will hopefully get Keita and Fab going as good as they can. It's too early to judge Keita & Fabbinho, everyone was singing Fabinho's praises after the RSB game, that was only 3 games ago. Keita needs a good run in the team, he's had a few injuries and was in and out of the team, but I have seen a few things in his performances to give encouragement, particularly his running/dribbling with teh ball, which our current MF severely lack. As for winning the league, I don't see it happening this season, we have improved the team, but we would have to have our best team constantly playing to win the games required to keep up with City, if we lose a Keita/Robertson/Firmino/Mane or Salah we do not have the quality good enough to bring in to maintain the same quality, where as City do. Also, Klopp seems to be struggling to get the team scoring goals, he's made us far more solid, but we have struggled for creativity, but City appear to be a flowing all round team, solid and do not concedede much, very creative and score goals, with plenty of quality on the bench like Sane/Jesus/Silva and the resources to add more players at will. Writing this as City go 4-1 up against Southampton after 43 minutes!

..5..1 atm. chelsea winning too..down to 3rd.
no longer looking so rosy for lfc and unless there is a change in form then arsenal and totenham will be overtaking too. looking like the usual struggle for 4th/5th place is going to unfold....which is just not good enough seeing this is season 5 for klopp...and all his hype. Klopp is a good fit for lfc but perhaps the team is already at its max potential...so far into a season you cannot keep saying wait till we hit form...its already as good as it gets imo.

We need to change our tactics, we are too defensive minded. The 3 games we started with 4 attack minded players, we won comfortably, Cardiff, Red Star and Southampton.

This is Klopps 3rd full season, it was his 3 year anniversary a few weeks ago, he has completed 2 full seasons. We have progressed/improved under Klopp, he has brought in some very good players, but we are up against Man City who no team can live with atm due to their quality and spending. Chelsea and Arsenal are doing well atm, but it's a long season, Chelsea won the PL 2 seasons ago, so it's not like Sarri has done miracles, they are an excellent team, similar to Arsenal, they have a good team but still have a suspect defence, we just didn't have a go at them to show it due to the team/tactics. Top 4 is always going to be a battle as we have 5 excellent teams + Man Utd who have resources trying to make the top 4, there are no guarantees, you need to spend big to make Top 4 these days.

11 games played, 8 wins, 3 draws were away to Chelsea, Arsenal and home to City.
That's a fine start by anyone's standards.
Just saying.
