I agree with the poster who says West Brom was a wake up call for him. He has realised his career as a professional footballer is at stake. His talent though is never in doubt and to be fair to him he has clearly (at last) made the effort. Nothing would give me more pleasure than for him to play this season regularly and play well hopefully helping Liverpool to win the title. None of us expected sturridge to be at Liverpool this season this is an unexpected bonus. Maybe he wants a new contract with Liverpool no matter how well he plays that can only be in a play as you play basis

The way someone dresses is only acceptable if they’re performing at their job? I’d have thought it was irrelevant no matter what.

The impression you create is important that's life I am sure when you go for an interview you bear that in mind ? If you are being paid £120k a week for doing nothing the impression you give the fans is not irrelevant.

Shanks.."WTF are you wearing Kev?"

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

The fact that sturridge has not delivered for Liverpool is undeniable. What we are arguing about is whether it's his fault. My criticism of him is he folds at almost anything Gerrard clearly thought so too unless our experts on here no more than Gerrard who was captain of the squad. As well as watching Liverpool at anfield since 1963 and seeing a lot of players and have played myself at Cheshire county level I can tell you players are just like you and me. Some run through brick walls some don't some play through niggles some don't. As for the way he dresses yes technically he can dress how he likes the drug dealer gangster looks is in fashion I understand. However that look is not great when you are picking up £120k a week for pulling sickies. I don't doubt some of his injuries are genuine but he folds at anything including niggles most players play through. The proof is in the pudding the guy has hardly played in his long career for three top clubs that's the situation which no one can deny. If you think that's not his fault that's your choice but I think he will look back with regret. However his performances this year are to his credit and I hope he plays right through the season and scores a hatful. I also note the bling gangster look has gone too whether that's related I am not sure

He also had a book to sell.

Hey look, Stan just restated his opinion without any additional evidence to support it, and he ignored everything everyone else has said on the thread AGAIN. This isn't making a point, it's just shouting your thoughts to the abyss.

If the Gerrard quote is all you have, then you have nothing. You would know that if you read my or Vish's post, or more importantly, if you had read Gerrard's book. But you don't read, you just shout your opinion over and over again.

Gerrard said that it was borderline and a risk, and that he convinced Sturridge to play through the pain, which he did, and scored. Hardly evidence of him being lazy. But again, you didn't actually read it, you half heard an out of context quote and reacted without looking further. Like a numpty.

And he has delivered for Liverpool. Despite his injury problems, he's got more league goals to his name for us than anyone else in the squad. He got to 50 league goals with fewer games than Fernando Torres, and he tied Kennedy's record of scoring in consecutive games. If his body wasn't made of glass, he probably could have been up there with one of the greatest we ever had, which is unfortunate, but not his fault.

I'm not even sure what "dressing like a gangsta" means, but if you're referring to the picture in the OP where he is at a concert to support a friend who is performing, and dresses the way the performers are dressed ONE TIME. Almost always when you see him in public, he's wearing a suit, or chinos and a nice shirt.

Not that that matters. When you see Gerrard Pique, or Marco Reus, or Mbappe, or several other players wearing similar clothes. And there's nothing wrong with that. Pogba showing up to work with Manchester City colored hair is unprofessional. Sturridge wearing a hat and a black shirt at a rap concert is nobody's damn business. There is nothing inappropriate about it.

His body will never be the same because of injuries he sustained while playing for Liverpool. No one talks about that part. He can't run the same anymore. But because you think he makes too much money, you call it dishonest when he's injured. When I worked in a chemical plant, I missed 6 months when I herniated a disk in my back. I received disability pay for my time out. Am I dishonest for taking it?

I think most of the injuries he's suffered are genuine and are not his fault. I think the major ones which have set him back may have got into his head and prevented him from wanting to try and play through the smaller niggles out of fear of being sidelined again..ironically resulting in him being out more often regardless. I mean, the lads not even 30 yet and he's definitely lost a yard of pace. You dont lose pace if those injuries arnt real. With Danny its a combination of bad genes and rotten luck. Needless to say a player is most at risk of injury when recovering from other injuries. You put more strain on different parts of the body when certain other parts are injured and are in pain, etc etc. If you think about it, he never fully recovered from the injury sustained with England by that dinosaur Woy Hodgeson...even after being told his exercise regime, specialised for him, which allowed us to get the best of a full premier league season out of him for the one of the only times he's managed it in his entire career. We have to take some responsibility as we continually tried to rush him back after that because we needed him as we had no recognised striker available other than origi and lambert. Rodgers was absolutely right to be fuming with the england coaching set up. I honestly put what they did down as the main catalyst for Sturridge's injuries throughout his career since.

Maybe I am wrong sounds like sturridge is one of the greatest servants the club has ever had, up there with Ian Callaghan. Without doubt we should build our team around him.

What could possibly go wrong ?

I don't disagree with that I am completely wrong. What this club needs for success is players on huge wages who don't play and dress as gangsters. That's the future silly me for not seeing it

We need to spend big on a centre-forward. Like Edin Dzeko or someone like that. Our jiggery-wiggery front three certainly knock in the tap-ins when they are in tune, but from more than 6 yards out, they "can't kick a hole in a wet echo", as they used to say back in the day.

What is the deal with you and your obsession with shot distance? Is scoring from more than six yards out worth more than scoring a tap-in?

Besides, they score all sorts of goals. Some from close, plenty from distance.
