Absolute manure!
Until FSG suddenly decided to ditch the buy low in quantity approach this past season, Sturridge was our best paid player for a number of years with not far off zero contribution to validate his wage. A couple of goals here and there (even Saturdays worldie) is not a satisfactory output from a player who has been paid such an exorbitant amount over the years.
He has been a major reason why we have fallen short in the time he has been at the club because for a large part of his time he's not been available because of his extremely low tolerance to pain threshold. He has been a thorn in our side and if we'd have known just what he would bring after his one worthy season alongside Suarez 13/14, we could have sold him and had a worthier player actually contributing earning his wage.

I'd be appalled if we offered him another contract on the back of a few cameo appearances.

He was given a contract because after Suarez left he was our star and our main source of goals. Even with his injury issues, he was still one of our biggest contributors, and we constantly rushed him back form injuries earlier, because there was no one else. This is one of the worst things you can do for injuries.

Now if you get injured on the job, would you return your worker's compensation or disability pay? Would you work when you were still in pain at risk of making it worse?

He's been under the knife 3 times, and seen just about every specialist on the planet to get fit. Have you ever undergone surgery? It isn't something you usually do for fun or to play hookey for a week.

No one has been more upset about his injuries than Sturidge himself, and he has worked tirelessly to get himself fit.

I for one am tired of the slanderous (and at times dare I say racist) tripe you in particular have been posting about him. He's a Red, and he's a bloody good finisher. Admit it, you were miserable when he scored on Saturday.

So hip surgery is a minor thing? Tearing your ankle ligaments is a minor thing? Hamstring surgery is a minor thing? You must have a lot of experience dodging work then, because I've never heard of someone having surgery to get out of work. What tosh.

The doctors have done scans and said he wasn't fit. This all in his mind tripe is beyond ignorant.

He has had a succession of injuries of all kinds (large and small) almost over his entire career there is a reason city and Chelsea got rid when he was younger. Yes I am sure some of the injuries were genuine but being a professional footballer is as much in the mind as the body and he folds at every opportunity. If he plays for the rest of this season (a big if) then great no one will be more pleased than me. However whatever happens this year the big picture is he has wasted his career and talent for he does have talent

Injuries ruined his career, which is a shame, because he could have been one of the greatest English strikers in the history of the prem, but to pretend that's anything other than unlucky is tosh.

This is a criticism that is never leveled at Danny Ings or Daniel Agger, or Harry Kewel, or Michael Owen, or Fabio Aurelio who had similar problems with their careers for us. All of them have been labeled as unlucky, even guys like Ings who played fewer matches for us and scored fewer goals. There is one key difference though. Guess what it is?

If anything, rushing him back, particularly after that first big injury with England, has exacerbated the problem. If we had other players to rely on during that period, we could have treated him the way City have treated Aguero (who is similarly injury prone). Aguero has only once gotten more than 25 goals in a league season becuause he's rotated and protected, and when he does get injured City have had the likes of Tevez, Dzeko, Jesus, etc. to pull from.

I think that it's very strange that he in particular has been singled out and called lazy for being injured when that list of players has never had that leveled against any of them. Ings played fewer games and had just as many problems, but he's unlucky. Sturridge is lazy, even though he had more appearances and contributed more goals and assists than Ings every year, even last year when he spent half the year on loan.

Pickles' OP on this thread certainly raises my eyebrow, especially given his Trump love ins and all of his complaining about political correctness on every thread he posts on. His gypsy comments, calling him "Little Daniel," moaning about his taste in music or dancing, what he's wearing suggest that he's a little too much the wrong color for him. Particularly given the fact that he's never gotten in trouble off the pitch, never been caught out on the p*ss, he's a family man, outspoken christian straight and narrow person make me wonder what he's done wrong to earn such ire.

I have higher opinion of you, particularly Stan. You're not so willfully ignorant, but you have posted some things that have disappointed me, particularly on that Black Panther thread you started a while back.

I’ve stuck up for him lots in the past and for me I would say it was a mental thing as well as physical. He was probably so scared of another lengthy lay off that he maybe didn’t push himself as much as others might who’ve not had the same type of injuries.

The one thing I think we can all agree on is his ability and that he can be a real threat when fit and firing. If he can do that for this season then all we’ll and good but as it is I expect he’ll get injured soon enough.

I think we all get as frustrated with his injuries as he does,if he wasn't as good a player as what he is then i'm sure it wouldn't be an issue with us.
