Hi peeps,

Just wanted my say on Henderson after the Chelsea game. I am normally, somewhat a fan of Henderson, not completely but I'd usually give him a solid 7/10.

I was so frustrated watching him today, never went in for a tackle, players breezing past him like he is not there and not a single cutting edge ball played or the very few he did attempt didn't come off. Our centre backs and the goalkeeper even had more attacking input.


For someone who obviously does have a lot of talent in there somewhere, not the player I want on the pitch when we are 1-0 down.


Agree? disagree? Does he provide that balance we need?


P.S. still thought a point away at Chelsea in this tough run is a great point.

I think him and Milner playing together doesn't work, Keita should play for one of them, good work rate but lacks talent

It's obvious to see that our regular front 3 aren't firing on all cylinders.

I mean how many chances do they need to put at least one ball into the back of the net?

Under those circumstances we need to play a regular striker up top when we actually have one good and fit Sturridge available.

Either rest Firmino or put him just behind Sturridge in the middle.

If we do so then at least one of the dynamic trio members in the middle of the park needs to be rested. Either put Keita in there or Firmino.

When Klopp subbed Shaqiri, Keita and Sturridge on it certainly looked better. Hope he learns from this now and isn't stubborn with his usual starting XI just for the sake of it.

What I hated more about his performances was his utter negative attitude. Berating other players overly aggressively on the pitch. Which would be fine if you're a player of a certain class like..a gerard...but he's not...he's jordan henderson. And his pissing and moaning when he was subbed is just the absolute wrong message and wrong attitude to have. He contributed nothing to yesterdays performance. In fact the whole midfield battle was lost yesterday and in those moments you want you captain to show some class. Being shouty, loud and aggressive is one thing. Having the ability, the class and talent to affect the game positively in your teams favour is another. He just came across as a petulant moaning child yesterday. As soon as keita came on we looked better. I really cant wait until keita is more comfortable in our setup and when his english is perhaps a bit better. We have seriously needed an upgrade in the midfield for at least the last 2 seasons.

Can't argue with that.

Sturridge doesn't press and that is a major problem in our system especially when the opponent is fresh and we need to defend from the front. I'm ok if Sturridge comes off the bench, his impact is much better. The only change I would put is to start with Keita and maybe Shaq as number ten against teams parking the bus. Fabinho I don't know, haven't watched him played.

Henderson had a bit of a stinker yesterday for sure, Klopp should have hauled his ass off at half time. It's in games like this, when you're up against class performers that defines your own class, Henderson was like a cart horse competing with thorough breeds. We need Keita and Fabinho to get to grips with the PL and quickly, so we have more competition in midfield.
Anyway as you say, that is still a great point away against a top side, even if with any composure up front it should have been three points.

A draw was good, they missed 2 sitters as well, or rather saved by our keeper.

I know he doesn't press, but it takes more than being good at pressing to earn a starting berth in a LFC side imo.

Neither of the front 3 should be safe from critisism with their current conversion rate.

When we clearly have a player on (goalscoring) fire, he just needs to play - at least until the other 3 up top start putting their shots away.

If we had a midfield trio on fire it would be hard to displace any of them to accomodate for Firmino there, but we haven't got that situation do we?

Milner, Wij and Hendo are too similar, which shows against top opposition. They all slow the play down tremendously, with too many touches on the ball, and being too defensive minded when we need to go forwards.

So in my world we need to make room for Sturridge for the time being. It's maybe not a long term solution, but we need to score goals - and he provides that!

Firmino can play in midfield and press from there if Klopp decides so.
