Gomez looked tidy today. One or two moments of danger, but he recovered quickly. I want to see the CB he can become.

Gomez looked tidy today. One or two moments of danger, but he recovered quickly. I want to see the CB he can become. Yeah, he looked comfortable, he needs to keep it simple and not over elaborate.

Not true.
He went into the air together with Arnautovic at several times today.
For example: One of them lead to a free kick for us, since he was elbowed in the head by Arnautovic.
You just need a player to hate that has been expensive to buy.
Now that Mané looks better again I guess he´s not hateable anymore?

You just need a player to hate that has been expensive to buy.

Even if he came back 100% fully fit, we were still in need of a partner for Virgil. Quite why he hasn't been upgraded is a real mystery. Gomez probably isn't ready yet and Matip is no better than Lovren....leaving Klavan as arguably our next best centre back?? Doesn't seem like the best plan to me.
Lovern is either 'ok' or terrible. Has he ever put in an 8/10...9/10...10/10 performance for us?

Lovern is either 'ok' or terrible. Has he ever put in an 8/10...9/10...10/10 performance for us? He was excellent in all the games against City. Roma home was pretty excellent as well. I think Lovren is fine for now. Maybe he can be upgraded next season, but I'm not that fussed about it.

Apparently it is an injury that gets worse when he is playing more often.
Playing a game every 3 days in the WC didn't exactly make matters better.
This all means we have a cb that can play max 1 game a week for the foreseeable future.
How good is that with both CL and domestic cups coming up soon?
It is usually a good idea to keep at least a few first teamers in the starting XI for the domestic cups. CB's are good to use since they normally don't run that much. But now we don't have that luxury with Mr Braincell in our team!

Yeah I fully agree Darcus, it defies logic that we haven't signed an upgrade for Lovern, given all that we've seen over the past few seasons since we signed him, you just never know what to expect from game to game.
