I'm with you but I do not think the Daily Mail and the Guardian copy eachother, in fact I know they dont, yet they say the same thing. They've obviously got the same source who seem very confident of the deal happening.
Because I'm an optimistic fool I hope he was out there getting the blessing of Gerrard, Torres and co. With them secure he decided to take the job.

Roy's going to get a minimum of 50m by all accounts. Who do you think he will buy? I think he'll go British, so would imagine Cahill, Milner, Shawcross and J. Cole to name a few would interest him. Can't see him bringing in a lot of overseas players though. parker, ireland, mcgeady to add a few more...

If he hasn't even been approached by the club then there would be no point speaking to the players.
I've had my own suspicions for a while now. When i look at the Shelvey transfer and the proposed transfer of Wilson, the first thing that hit me was that these were out of character signings from Benitez. In other words, some-one else signed these players for the club and that person is the new manager. Like i said, these weren't Rafa signings but they could well be Dalglish signings.
The other thing to consider is that the transfer window opens on July 1st. I cannot believe a club of Liverpools stature and experience would leave the manager position open this long. Most managers are in talks with players long before now about signing for their clubs. If we have some one come in now, they would be at a considerable disadvantage.
In summary, i think we had some one lined up before Rafa was sacked and that person has been working behind the scenes, talking to existing players and potential targets. The newspaper talk is just speculation because they don't really know anything anyway.

Price is the big issue with these boys though, Milner min of 25m, West Ham will look for between 10-15m, Cahill and shawcross same again.
Saying thah if we got Milner (27m) Joe Cole (Free) Cahill (12m) Ireland (10m) I'd be a happy man. Though we need a left back and I cant see Cole coming to us.

By all accounts they were done by Kenny due to his involvement with the youth team. If it's not Hodge then LFC have carried out the world best ever cover up, I would like to see someone like Pellegrini or Lowe come in but it aint going to happen not until the sale is complete and that wont be done before Xmas.
Still what a lovely xmas present!!

When we originally had him it would been good to have someone else manage him but not now, his on the way down, time for him to head sunny scotland and ply his final seasons there. He'll be great for Celtic but if we're serious about moving on then Keane is not the way forward.

And when was the last time you heard of a club ambassador who helps out with the academy signing players?
From what i hear, the Shelvey deal was £1.7m down payment, rising to £3.5m and the Wilson deal was £2.5m rising to £4m. That's a lot of money for some-one to spend on players, especially when that person isn't the manager.
