Of course they'll have an issue with it, as would every other club in the world (including Liverpool). They're operating on a budget and will be holding out to get as much money guaranteed up front as they possibly can.

Didn't the Coutinho to Barca deal have about £40 million worth of bonuses built into it, based on appearances and achievements? as far as I know Coutinho has never had a major injury, unlike Fekir, so it seems fair to pay something like £30 million upfront and £20 million in appearances,

Modern transfers are staggered over a few years now anyways, rarely are they paid upfront with the full amount, so you'd think £10 million after 50 appearances and £10 million after 100 appearances would be fair.

Now Liverpool have queried the medical, any club going into a transfer for him will raise this and want to negotiate a similar deal I bet.

Lyon does not need to sell their captain.

Neither did we need to sell Coutinho, Coutinho wanted the move, as it appears Ferkir want's the move also, which is why Lyon allowed us to make the move.

Agree, but if you start questioning the physical condition of a player, his interest in joining you will cool down. In addition, if he had a deal with Aulas on a target fee, putting conditions on it wipes off the deal. This is how I see it.

Yeah but what you're assuming (and no offence but it's complete conjecture) is fair doesn't necessarily reflect Lyon want from the deal or consider to be fair.

If a portion of the transfer fee is dependant on performances and achievements etc. there can be no doubting that Lyon will want as much as possible either up front or guaranteed, rather than based on uncertainties.

Welcome back Kingy,hows it going?

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

You right, I'm guessing and assuming what's fair, but in the big transfers it does seem to be standard practice these days to have performance related targets which trigger payments, so I just figured something like that could be agreed.

When deals breakdown, in such a public way, it is often over and done with, the clubs won't deal again as trust has gone, it was similar with Southampton over VvD, but money talks when we went back with £75 million, bridges can be built with money it seems !

Southampton wanted 75m, we offered 50 or 60M pissing them off in the process forcing us to run away. After 4 months we offer 75m. Trial and error until we get it right I suppose.

Danny Ings has been offered a new contract but he says he wants to leave to play football.

Good luck to him. I wished it worked out for him here

Unless he could improve massively, I think we need better quality. All credit to him to choose to move on as it would be good for both parties.
