Leicester have very rich owners, they do not need to sell, can't see them being interested in any of our cast offs like Sturridge, Markovic etc.

Mahrez is doing a deal with City, can't see him changing his mind unless Klopp can convince him like he did VvD, which I doubt.

We'd have a chance getting Schmeichael, I think he'd love to play in the CL again, he's a good keeper, but he's 32 in a few months, so not sure how long he will have at the top level, so might not be a big improvement on Migs & Karius, we would be buying a keeper who is declining.

I like Vardy, but can't see him fitting in with how we play, he likes to run onto balls over the top, not the intricate passing/movement we do.

Keepers play up to 40 so 7 to 8 years would be the same as buying Salah at 24 years old and Vardy d much better than Ings having a similar game. That said, Vardy would be too expensive for his age

Agreed on the keeper age Vish, always liked Schmeichael, not the best but a big improvement on what we have.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Interesting family dinner conversations if Kasper signs for us.

Didn't he learn to play at City, so don't think it's much of an issue. I don't think Peter has any connections with Manure anymore

His dad played at City also, so I don't think his Man Ure background would be an issue, I think there'd be more annoyance from City fans, we don't have a good relationship with them anymore.

I agree Keepers can play until late 30's/40's these days, but they are generally declining after their early 30's, so still good, but past their peak, so we might have seen Schmeichaels best already.

Interesting to see Schmeichel has been talked about again in the media...

Liverpool should turn to Kasper Schmeichel as Alisson alternative
by Tom Procter

Liverpool would have to spend a fortune to sign Alisson, but Kasper Schmeichel could be a solid bit of business for the Reds.

The goalkeeping position at Liverpool has been problematic for a number of seasons now, and fans are clamouring to see Jurgen Klopp sign a replacement for Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

Neither one of the pair has convinced between the sticks at Anfield, and reports have claimed the Reds want to sign Roma's Brazilian stopper Alisson Becker this summer.

The 25-year-old, who is currently on World Cup duty, is one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A along with Samir Handanovic and he had an exceptional season at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Guardian last month claimed Liverpool face a struggle to sign him given the huge asking price of £79 million and Real Madrid also supposedly being interested, but there is one man who could represent a fine alternative target and he would come at a fraction of the price of Alisson.

Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel would represent a solid short term fix for the goalkeeping issue in case there really is no chance of signing Alisson.

Not only does Schmeichel have Premier League experience, but he has, of course, won the title after the Foxes' fairy tale 2015/16 season.

The former Leeds United man is generally a very dependable top flight stopper, and he has been in great form for Denmark at the World Cup against Peru and Australia so far.

Mignolet's future is uncertain, and Karius has a long way to go before restoring his reputation following his Champions League howlers, so a player like Schmeichel could be Liverpool's answer ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

I don't agree with the age concept that they go downhill all of a sudden after 30. Keepers can still be very agile into their late, late 30's. There is also the fact that Schmeichel can help Karius and Ward, something we probably need because Mignolet has been a catastrophe.

wouldnt coming to liverpool just be a side step for him ( some would say a step down) so why would he want to come hear?

Because he would have seen how we got to the final on 11 fit players and the only reason we lost it was the goalkeeper at the end of the day. As he would be an immense upgrade he must be able to see himself winning it with us.

I'm not so sure Oblak would fit our style of play?
