But it catches Karius completely unawares, so he could not protect/brace himself or prepare for it, so it does not really need to be a heavy blow.

I don't understand why he got straight back up, he should have stayed down and for the refs attention, get checked out by the doctors and get yourself together.

I'm not a doctor either, but being hit at speed by the Ramos arm/elbow knocked him over, he didn't dive or exaggerate it as he didn't know it was coming, so that was a genuine reaction IMO.

Only Karius will truly know the impact it had on him, but we all know he has the potential to drop the clangers he did, so if he wouldn't have been hit by Ramos, no Liverpool supporter would have been shocked by those mistakes.

If you are a goalkeeper and you take a knock to the head and your vision or judgement is impaired, straight up you would flag the bench and get attention. Surely?
I mean. Being in goal for Liverpool in the Champions League Final, you wouln't just push on and hope nothing goes wrong, would you?

If that was the case then Karius is not the smartest man we have had between the posts.

The other reason for the errors is that he is a boob and the medical report of concussion is just "spin" to save face so he is a marketable item when he is sold.

The Spanish media are allover it at the moment and one outlet - AS have been interconnecting links between Liverpool, FSG, Massachusetts General Hospital, John Henry and Tom Werner.

The clinic which assessed Karius receives funds from Liverpool

Massachusetts General Hospital, where the keeper was examined, receives funds from the Boston Red Sox Foundation which is linked to Liverpool's owners.

The reasons behind the medical report which diagnosed Loris Karius as having suffered concussion during the recent Champions League final has a financial explanation as well as a medical one. Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), which carried out the examination on the player, receives funds from the Boston Red Sox Foundation. The Major League Baseball (MLB) outfit is owned by Fenway Sports Group, who also own Liverpool FC - Karius' employers.

The German keeper made two decisive blunders in the game which Liverpool ended up paying dearly for. Earlier this week it was revealed that Karius had suffered concussion as a direct result of the blow to the head he received from Sergio Ramos in the 49th minute of the game. The medical report also states that the player's vision was also affected, which explains his errors of judgement in the second half of the match.

However, doubts about why Karius was subjected to examination in Boston on 31 May persist. At no point in the game did the player complain about feeling unwell. A few days after the final, the goalkeeper disclosed that he noticed symptoms which are consistent with concussion, which is why head trauma specialist Dr Ross Zafonte in Massachusetts concluded that his vision might have been affected by the blow, but that does not explain why the keeper failed to get medical attention while the game was in play.

Life can’t be boring when everything is a conspiracy. He was on holiday in the states apparently and it’s no surprise the club would send him to one of their own medical facilities or one they’re associated with.

Karius was posting twitter messages early the next morning after the Final, stating he'd hardly slept.

He's then secretly jetting off from Manchester Airport that evening and we are told by LFC PR he contacted the club who referred him to Massachusetts General Hospital on 31st May.

I couldn't find his exact holiday destination but all rather convenient that it would be the United States! If you've just had aggro on twitter after costing your team the greatest club competition in the world, the USA isn't the top of the list for getting away from it all, is it? A Desert Island, somewhere far away would be...all rather too convenient.

Statement regarding Loris Karius From Dr. Ross Zafonte and Lenore Herget, PT, DPT

We have received numerous calls today regarding the health status of Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius. With Mr. Karius’s permission, we are providing information about his medical situation in an effort to prevent, where possible, the dissemination of incomplete or erroneous information.

On May 31, 2018 Mr. Karius underwent a comprehensive examination by Dr. Ross Zafonte and Dr. Lenore Herget in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

After carefully reviewing game film and integrating a detailed history – including his reported present and immediate post-contact subjective symptoms – physical examination and objective metrics, we have concluded that Mr. Karius sustained a concussion during the match May 26, 2018.

At the time of our evaluation, Mr. Karius’s principal residual symptoms and objective signs suggested that visual spatial dysfunction existed and likely occurred immediately following the event. Additional symptomatic and objectively noted areas of dysfunction also persisted. It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance.

We also note that Mr. Karius has reported significant and steady improvement since the concussive event, and we expect him to make a full recovery based on the results of the examination. We expect that with treatment and by following prescribed activity protocols he will continue to improve. We have encouraged vigilance and an emphasis on safety in his eventual return to full activity.

This is the only comment we will be making in relation to this matter. All future media inquiries should be directed to the Liverpool FC Press Office.

Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Massachusetts General Hospital

When did Hospitals start putting out statements on their websites about patients?

It would indicate to me that the whole exercise has been staged and paid for by FSG, using a hospital with close links to John W Henry to issue a report whose contents have been largely dictated by the LFC Press Office.
