Although a much smaller sport I think rugby league is always ahead of football in how they televise. One thing that seems to be new is player mic. They put a microphone on a player and film him. At half time in the analysis they show the high spots. It's great insight for the punter with thuds, crunches, gasps and the shouting between players especially leading to try's be great to see it in premiship soccer. And of course refs have been mic up for years in rugby.

The mic thing in Rugby League is a gimmick to try and make lame sport more interesting. I don't think football needs that kind of "fizz".

Football all the way for me but because football is my favourite sport it does not mean I am blind to other sports. I would like to see player mic trailed in soccer whether it needs it is irrelevant it's an entertainment if such a thing enhances punter entertainment what's the problem ?

I can see it happening but I think they are already bringing in too much technology, often just for the sake of it. The only positive has been goal line technology. I wish they would just leave it at that as it's becoming a slippery slope... Even studio technology has gone too far. Pundits, commentators and tv/radio host are now spending the next 3 or 4 days after a game deliberating whether the ref gave the right decision on a throw in because it indirectly led to a goal a few minutes later!!! Hindsight is great, especially when you have 40 camera angles, 6 expert colleagues and several days to analyse each trivial incident. Unfortunately the refs have a second or two to make a decision. No wonder there are so many mistakes when they know that everything will be over analysed and their name can be rubbished for such small innocent errors. Leave things as they are, eh?

They have had cricket captains in the County 20/20 wired up. It does give a bit more to the viewer but is all really rather general stuff in the main.

I agree with you to a point personally however the reason these things are done is because like it or not the punters want it or they would not do it
