Xabi Alonso was Liverpool's best player when he was with us, not Gerard and certainly not Torres, you only have to see what has happend to the club once Xabi left, even when Gerard and Torres have'nt played none of them were ever missed nearly as much as Alonso. Xabi Alonso a true profesional on and off the pitch who loved the club and fans and was treated so shabbily by the most incompetent fool of a manager we have had in years.

Thats if the yanks have gone by the time he gets sold, if the yanks are still there then we wont see that £30million, i have to say it but if "HE" is still there then if he is feeling generous we might get £10million to spend, other than that he will just keep the 20m to pay off his debts...

I find this type of debate a bit sterile. A players "worth" is what a club is willing to pay against what the club will accept.
In the past some great players have been sold at a time when the market was deflated and realised far less than players we all would agree were better.
At the moment we are in the worste position for both buying and selling.
Buyers see us deperate and look for bargains, and potential recruits are faced with no manager, no strategy, no CL and 2 txxssers as owners.
We will not be serious market players untill the ownership is sorted.
