listen mate, i've been wanting rafa out of the club for quite a long time but i do defend him when i think it's unfair criticism. saying it was houlliers team is a bs excuse, rafa was the manager that season, end of...

he did a lot of good things for us but as i said i wanted him out.

Getting bored of ex-players criticising rafa, look bruce have a go at management yourself and then comeback.

So take of that ridiculous hat and stop throwing games.

I think one mistake that many people make is in adopting what i call the Championship Manager mentality. I'll explain:

When the club buys a player, the accountable cost is transfer fee + wages over the length of the contract + any bonuses.

When a player is sold, the club receives a fee but then has to pay the remainder of the players contract or an agreed figure of compensation. As an example, if we sell a player for £10 million who has 2 years left on his contract at £50,000 per week, we then have to pay the player the duration of his contract or a compromise figure. i.e. 104 weeks at £50,000 per week comes to £10.4 million.

Benitez sold around 70 players during his tenure as manager. Where as the transfer fees cancelled out any spending, the amount we've paid up in contracts must be astronomical.

One other point i'd like to make; If we hadn't have won the Champions League, would people then consider Benitez a success or a failure?

Undeserved Rant at Rafa.Bruce entitled to opinion but out of line as are all those who said he did nothing for club. HE did help win a 5th with Rafa signings Alonso and Garcia instrumental and an FA Cup. Got us to another final and more great European nights than I can count including great wins at Barca, Real, Inter and of course the Chavs. while some transfers didn't work, He gave us Luis, Xabi, Pepe, Mash, Torres, Agger, Johnson, true world class footballers. He got us closer to league than anybody else which means he was doing something right. Rafa is gone so we move on but Rafa gave us some special memories. Bruce knows how difficult management is cause he was fired wherever he attempted to coach. Not that easy Bruce so keep it in perspective. We're all disappointed with club at moment but cheap shots don't help.

You forgot to mention that rafa was the one who also helped gerrard stay at the club twice when chelsea approached him under Mouriniho, Lets just hope he stays and Mouriniho doesnt get 3rd time lucky with Gerrard..
