I thought the first pen was onside as it came off Lovren as the final touch before Kane ran on, I don't understand this, Kane gained an advantage by being in an offside position. When the ball was played to him he's clearly offside, the deflection off Lovren is irrelevant as he's offside in the first place. As Van Gogh says, It's like a striker intercepting a backpass from a defender to the GK, if the opposition player plays the ball to the attacker, he is not offside, even if he was not playing the ball intentionally, it came off Lovren last. Completely different, Eriksen tried to pass the ball through to Kane, who is offside when the pass is attempted. The deflection of Lovren is irrelevant because he's gained an advantage by being in an offside position. Dier passed the ball directly to Salah for our first goal so the correct decision was made, there are clear differences between the two instances. Not according to an experienced retired refree who is usually impartial from what I have seen in his interviews. I also thought Kane was offside. I suppose this is why linesmen wait for the attacking player to get the ball before raising their flag.

Lamela jumped in and actually impeded VvD from clearing. Foul no?
Any case. The pen decisions isn’t going to be reversed. Take it on the chin and respond positively... VVD didn't kick the ball but the player which he is not allowed to do. The rule doesn't say you cannot impede somebody behind you kicking the ball

First was onside but Im struggling to see any real contact, he Dives. The second is much harder to see but I still don't think it was a penalty. I hate diving, it spoils the game. Both spurs players deserve Oscars for their falls

The frightening thing is there are people on this forum who still don't understand the rules of the game...both cast iron penalties.
God Almighty from above.
The expert and messiah of ALL things everything related has spoken....unfortunately....so there we have it.
May as well just have him on here as the only member of this rapidly fading forum...as the gaffer is clearly not going to remove him/her when he/she re-appeared....as was promised last time........spouting his usual self opinionated drivel and 'factual' lousy opinions haha....Welcome back Boyo...nice to see you have stopped bothering those sheep and instead turned your attentions back to concentrating about what I say... All I have done was expressed an opinion that is valid....two of the most cast iron penalties you are likely to see and posters are somehow trying to argue the fact that one or more were not valid which is ludicrous. I bet the same posters would be arguing that they were certain penalties if they were the other way around.... What an absolute 'kin bell end you really are. I'm not Welsh, and I don't live in Wales either, so suck it up buttercup

Yeah I back Growls position too. I'd just say the standard of refereeing is abysmal and the FA should be doing something about it, other than trying to hide behind technology. There's an obvious training deficit, and they're doing nothing to sort it.

In fairness Hercs, it is a difficult job, as it was in rugby, hence the reason for them using vid tech I suppose? sadly IN MY OPINION.....not telling you like some other waster of a knob head in here does all the bass turd time......it really should be used in Prem matches now. That would have virtually solved the issues, if's and but's last night. They just need to speed the decision making up a tad

I think there is also a big difference in the professionalism of the players involved though. Rugby players especially are very respectful towards the officials, footballers are the exact opposite, they constantly moan, cheat and berate the officials, even the WBA players did after VAR was used in the FA Cup!

The problem is - football is a continuous flowing game so any technological intrusion is going to be felt. The NFL is a stop-start sport - so the technical aspects blend in and are less noticed. They've also been doing it for years so it's seamless now. It didn't start that way. VAR will have growing pains - there is no way around that. But I think most would agree, that if needs be, needs must. We'll all get used to it. We don't hear rugby fans complaining about it, so the fans of footie will become accustomed to it eventually too, and then we wouldn't be getting any more of these arguing tiresome discussions

It's not a continuous flowing game is it, it's punctuated by fouls, throw in's and goal kicks. It has more stoppages than a game of rugby for sure.
