I just understand the way we set up and the way we play, which isn't with a number 10. There is nothing to suggest that Firmino could be one of the central midfield 3 and there is no reason to move him back there when his best position is clearly a striker.

The reason he plays deeper is to link the play and use the pace of Salah and Mane further forward.

Thus he is playing more as a number 10 with Salah and Mane in front of him. If you look at his stats, it is more that of a number 10 than a striker, lots of assists and passes but less goals scored compared to other top strikers. He is one of our best players but not a top striker as he doesn't usually get to 20 goals a season. Somebody playing deeper to link the play as you say is not a true striker. Klopp has tried a few times to play a striker (Sturridge/Solanke) in front, but they were not good enough. However, a Lewandowski excelled there under Klopp and so his replacement, Aubameyang, this is why I think it would have worked very well

19 goals so far this season suggests otherwise. The way we play encourages goals to be spread about, it's better than always relaying on one player.

When we say 20 it's usually in the league and Firmino has scored 11 so far, his best in a season at this point. For me he is more a number 10 than a number 9 like Kane or Aguero etc.
