That cuts real deep. I'm off to have a long hard look at myself.

Relax ffs. I wasn't specifically on about your post. There is [oops] posted by the same people posted over and over. Random made up nonsense and it is tedious to read.

We are a top 4 team. Take even the top 6 teams and no one has bought players that we have for so cheap to produce so much output.

Firmino was bought for 21m - 29m with addons. What is he worth at the moment? 50m-75m in the current market

Matip bought for free what is he worth 30 up easily
Klaven is not great but at 4.7m he has been ok recently
Gomez 3.5m another year or 2 he will be a top defender.
Roberston 8m bought for peanuts for the player he is going to be
Salah 37m-39m? What is his current value 100m plus

Not one of the top 4 is pulling players for that value. That would suggest our scouting team are finding value.

Our problem is not getting value. It is buying top established players like VVD who cost money

To be fair, since PSG bought Neyma the resale value of every player has gone up so using this in the future is going to be tricky.

I guess it depends on what you expect from a scout. If it's about a % return (the good old F$G way) then the scouts have done a good job, especially after the sale of Phil. Club silverware though, is something else.

If a scout is bringing in players on the cheap and we are either selling them for huge money(to reinvest hopefully) or to be first team players then he is for sure doing his job

For silverware at this moment in time, we need top class established players who are going to mostly be expensive.

Are our suits good ?

The Suits for me are there to bring the money in, do the deals for sponsorship/merchandising etc, FSG have done pretty well with this.

It's then down to the manager and his team/scouts to bring the players in/on using the money the suits provide.

Most scouts don't wear suits. They are football and not corporate people.

The thought of John W Henry scouting players does make me laugh though, asking 'how he pitches?'

How do you know that? How many scouts have you met and dealt with at football matches?

If you are approaching a youngster it has always been an informal chat, not a business like approach. Imagine going to watch a lower league game in a suit, you'd stand out, scouts don't want to be known and should be keeping under the radar.

Whoa. A bit terse there mate. In my opinion Fermino was a decent buy, the lad works hard and scores goals, Matip was decent pick-up but isnt tough enough, Robertson is a real "find" in my opinion, Klavan gets stick because he was a cheap buy and is not famous, but he does a decent job and with VVD next to him he will gain confidence.
Sterling was a good sell. Totally over-hyped by the British press, still looks and plays like a 12 year old kid, can only do a few short dribbles then loses concentration and is lacking in tactical instinct.

That's my opinion.
