Surely a decent scouting system could unearth more than it has.In light of the astronomic fees being paid for players across the board it is increasingly important to source future talent for the academy upwards to the 1st team!!Van Dijk was an obvious choice for me once I saw him playing for Celtic,we might have saved 60 million on 1 player with a better scouting system, surely there are opportunities out there for us to get some better value like we have done with Suarez and Coutinho in the past. In order to compete with the likes of City,Utd and Chelsea at the moment it is beyond doubt a necessity that this aspect of our club receive closer attention if we are to challenge for any trophies as we do not have the money that these clubs currently have eventhough surprisingly Van Dijk certainly believes we do still retain a certain kudos which makes us all happy to hear!

Has the club actually got any scouts? Recruitment candidates appear to be sourced by Googling "famous over-priced footballers who want transfer".

We've just signed Salah who has turned into a great buy?
Robertson looks a good buy as well?

The academy is a waste of space for the 1st team. It's a separate money making entity, not a feeder. Yes, I know we've had our successes in the past from the academy but they are so infrequent that you'd struggle to name 10 DECENT players over the last 20 years that would walk into the side of any of our main rivals.
Man City have have ploughed millions into their academy and it's now the biggest and best academy in the UK and we know there's no way F$G are going to go toe to toe on spending with either of the Manc clubs let alone the likes of Barca or Real.

Apparently we are scouting some lad named Suso from Milan. Price is 45 million quid. In 2020 we may scout another talented lad named Grujic for a similar figure perhaps?
My impression of both of them is that they have the talent, but there may have been something personal between them and the boss.
Great players often clash with managers, but that is because they are spirited and that is what sets them apart. It takes a special manager to handle all types of personalities to create a great blend of talent.

And who are the first team players in the City team coming from their academy?
