We needed better midfielders than him but it's outrageous we're letting him go for pennies. Oh well, time to look for other German midfielder, who can actually pass, shoot and hold up play

He's a solid, capable player that is likely to get better, and is becoming a regular for the world's best national side. I think it's a bit of a loss to the squad and I'm more concerned about WHY he wants to go, than the fact that we'll lose out on a transfer fee. Even with Keita coming in we were short of quality and numbers in midfield so he'll still need to be replaced.
And for those that they are saying 'drop him'...........just remember that his replacement would likely be Henderson! Be careful what you wish for...

He apparently wants a release or get out clause in any new contract which we won't agree to. I read that Juve were going to pay him £85k a week which is more than he's on I would guess but not as much as we could or would pay him.

Firstly, I wouldn't say that £85k a week was excessive wages for a regular for Liverpool and Germany in this day and age. Secondly, just give him the release clause if it ties him down, so that we can get £20-£30m+ for him in 12/24 months time. It's surely a better option than losing him for zilch? Anyone would think Ian Ayre was negotiating contracts still!?

Anyway, at least he hasn't spat his dummy out and saying that he never wants to play for LFC again

Anyone would think Ian Ayre was negotiating contracts still!? Well it depends on what release fee he wanted and what we wanted. Having a low release clause as you've suggested virtually makes him worth nothing to us as in todays market he has to be worth getting on for £40m(?) (based on Sigurdsson's fee alone!). But if he thinks we wanted too high a release then it makes his options a lot more difficult in the future. Seems like they were both trying to protect their own interests which is fair enough and come to an impass.

Anyone would think Ian Ayre was negotiating contracts still!? That would have made perfect sense. Mind boggling that hasn't been done many months ago. Anyway, at least he hasn't spat his dummy out and saying that he never wants to play for LFC again I'm guessing its a principal thing, if we give Can a release clause, future players would want one, like Salah/Mane/VvD etc, the reason we are in such a strong position with Coutinho is that he has no release clause, so we have to agree to let him go. We could do what Barca did we Neymar, put a huge fee in like £250 million, so then at least we get a huge fee and it puts teams of. The problem is Can wanted like £20-30 million release, which is pretty low these days, he wanted his cake & eat it as he gets a nice new fat contract from us for long term, but can leave if anyone he fancies offers what is a relatively low amount You have to question his desire and commitment over that, Klopp cannot have him part of his plans if he can leave at the drop of £20 million, imagine the constant speculation on who will meet his release clause next. I don't think it's bad management from LFC, its a players right to run down a contract now, the club can't force a player to sign a new deal or leave on a fee if he won't sign, look at the problems Arsenal have now with Ozil & Sanchez, that's £150 million of players they are losing for free. A few more like that and it might make teams question paying huge transfer fees if the player might leave them in 4 years for nothing.

We got him for next to nothing, and it stings, but it's not the end of the world. We have Keita coming in to replace him. He's fulfilled his contract, never kicked up a fuss in training, and always gives 100%. The idea of sending him to the reserves to rot baffles me.

He really isn't much of a loss ,hardly stands out in a poor midfield.
That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.
