Seeing reports we’ve reached an agreement to sign him for 30m (and possibly loan back for the rest of the season). Anyone else know anything about this?
Is the player any good?
If true it’s great that we’re getting business done discreetly and early on (does suggest Coutinho is on the move though!)

He's supposed to be very good. Done well against UTD and formed a good partnership with Balanta (fm legend)
£30mil seems very expensive, I didn't think a Swiss team would be able to demand such a high fee.
I'm glad we are linked with defenders tho. Hopefully the Kevin Trapp rumours are true also.
I've heard that there will be 2 more after Van Dijk.

I like the look of him. Either him or De Vrij and I would think we look sorted at CB. Maybe an old head like Chiellini would be wise.

Maybe an old head like Chiellini would be wise. Why would Juventus allow Chiellini, one of the world's best central defenders to leave? Especially after Bonucci went in the Summer. He's also Italian and has played in Serie A his whole career so I cannot see a move to the Premiership at this stage of his career.

He's not the player he once was and his contract is running down. I don't know if it's an option or not, but it might be worth a shout to try.

Signing a 33 year old whose never played anywhere other than Italy where the style of football is completely different makes zero sense. (As much as I enjoy watching him defend and play for both Juventus and Italy)

Mascherano would've been perfect He's a proper defensive midfielder, never a centre back for me despite Barca turning him into one.

An old head, respected in the dressing room who's won trophies and can fill in at a moment's notice. VVD with Matip or De Vrij and Chiellini as a rotational player would be awesome. Just having 2 great CBs isn't enough, but most CBs good enough to do what we need them to do wouldn't be content to sit on the bench unless they are getting on in years or something like that.

Liverpool transfer target Manuel Akanji's dream is playing for Manchester UnitedTeamtalk reported that Akanji declared last summer after winning the Swiss Rookie of the Year award: "I want to stay healthy, go with Switzerland to the World Cup, and someday play for Manchester United.” http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/12/21/liv...aying-for-manc/CVNT! I don't want him!
