Phil and his entourage will certainly have one eye on the situation over there.

It's interesting all right, and it's uncomfortable for the EU, on one hand they support the right of national self determination, which is an internationally accepted principle, but then they turn around and say it's an internal matter for Spain, and refuse to accept that the Catalonians have the right to self determination, just because it doesn't suit the EU's interests. Very hypocritical stance from the EU....and others!

What is odd about the situation is that 'nationalists' around Europe who want the EU to break up will be supporting the separatists, while the fervently pro EU, who generally despise the power of nation states, will be hoping the separatists are curbed And before anyone says this is for the general forum, it very, very much has consequences for footy.

I’m not entirely sure what that has to do with a quiet forum.

The question is rather if it is the majority of people living in Catalonia who want independence (they are already very automomous) and secondly if what Mr Pudjemon is doing is according to the constitution his party signed to adhere to. Having a proportion of people wanting independence doesn't mean it's the will of everybody. Last, it is all written for the EU that they are not supposed to interfere in internal matters and any new country has to apply to enter the union. Did the EU interfere with the Scotish independence issue or even Brexit? No the didn't but only reminded the existing principles.

It’s an open forum where anyone can answer anything. Do you have a problem with that?

Yes Lain, absolutely, double standards when the "principle" doesn't suit. Like the Yanks with their "Human Rights" but not when it comes to water boarding, abduction and imprisonment without trial for their enemies! "Principles" are something to be imposed on others at the point of a gun, but is seen as a-la-carte option when it comes to the superpowers.

I wasn’t defending anyone but myself. About four of us commented on the suspicious nature of the posts and poster. If your comment was aimed at Chris then quote him. It wasn’t so I answered too on behalf of my comment about it. You need to remember be that chip from your shoulder there or you’ll be walking in circles all your life.

As for the returning poster, all I have said is about the suspiciousness of it. I don’t care too much if he’s back as he’ll over step the mark as always. Until then I’ll treat him the same as anyone.

Where’s the abuse? We’re just pointing out he seems to be back.
