Why on earth do some on here think FSG suddenly decided to go against the last 5 summer and spunk £200m on transfers?

I'm not slamming them since they're pure businessmen, but Solanke is a clear cut bargain buy, Robertson the same. Only Salah seems good business and the Ox - who the Fk knows..

Klopp should've signed a CB (Keeper too) but our transfers seem to have no plan at all. We seem to mess about for 2 months and for me, it's clear the money just isn't there - not the kind we need to ever challenge the title again.

The only way we were spending that kind of money was if Coutinho was sold, but Barca messed us about thinking we'd cash in on the cheap. FSG want maximum value from sales, but it leads to prolonged transfers and any incomings are reliant on this, so we dawdle and settle for 2nd options like Ox.
They sit back, make a few enquiries, make a few headlines about world class stars we're after, and save the big money offers until they know there's money coming in to cover it.

Klopp's ultimately responsible for the performances, but the 180 on FSG on here is incredible. He won't be managing Celtic next season, hopefully he'll be here with a few more players, minus PC if that's what it takes and the knives can come out then.

I believe the reports' 200M including the funds that generated from selling players.

When someone was calculating the budget, they must include the selling revenue from Sakho (over30M price tag they set), Markovic (they originally want a breakeven of 20M)or Origi (maybe) etc.

However, the fail of selling Markovic and the last minute selling of Sakho ruin FSG transfer plans I guess.

We can clearly know that in this transfer market, we have a limited budget.

Can anyone remember why Klopp said he would not replace Sturridge? It is because it is too costly to be replaced. That's mean if budget was not an issue, he will go for another striker. (I know someone would say we have money for another winger Ox. But we actually need another one. See, Phil will play more in the middle this year. 2 wingers were definitely not enough for playing both in CL and EPL. The back up of wingers were even poorer than strikers. At least if we use the money for a winger, we still got Stud as sub of striker. If we use money for a striker to replace Stud, what do we get to sub Mane or Salah? Kent? Woodburn? Both seems not ready for the challenge for me.)

She may have been there talking to Ashley? I'm sure I read he's up for selling them and her clients aren't fussed who they buy. I wouldn't be holding my breath if I were you.

The reports are she is talking to Newcastle, she's the deal maker but she represents some serious money who want to buy into football big (from Middle East & China), I think these were the ones linked to us last year.

The worrying thing is they could do for Newcastle what Abramovic did for Chelsea or Mansour did for City, that would put us 6th or 7th for resources and would pretty much end our hopes of getting in the CL unless we come across some excellent players cheap... and we don't have a history of that !!!

Dunk has mentioned this and I agree, this could be a very important time for Liverpool, as these investors are serious and will buy a/into club, if it's not Liverpool, we have serious problems. FSG appear happy to keep us ticking over, whether we finish 2nd or 4th to them doesn't make a difference, as long as they are making money, the club is increasing in value, they are not interested on seeing us win, they aren't even interested on football.

I'm hoping they come in with a bid for us and FSG sell up, if that doesn't happen I see us struggling to be truly competitive, we will win games and be ok, but it will be much like the last 10 years, around 5th to 8th with the occasional qualification for Europe/cup run/win, if we come across a decent group of players, until we lose them to bigger clubs/wages.

But if it's not Liverpool they buy, I hope it's Newcastle, a proper club with real fans.

I think there are no chances for FSG selling. Liverpool is money cow for them.

They bought us on a bargain price (some fans like to say they are savior to us anyway) and EPL clubs are increasing value every single seconds. They will probably hold on the club and will only sell once they found the increasing trend of value of EPL clubs stopped, which is unlikely for the next few years as the broadcasting revenue from Asia is huge.

If Klopp really wanted to sign a CB other than VVD he could have, even if there was no money available, he could have used the Ox money.

I am not sure how LFC is a money cow as the club is hardly making money and is definitely not paying dividends unless it was in 2017. The value might be going up but there is not a lot of buyers who are ready to throw away their money. Very few clubs are profitable

I think we need more than 2 wingers when playing EPL and CL. Winger is a position that easier to get tired/injured and need more rotate. To be honest, I think 4 classy wingers are the minimum.

For the CB, we played with the same CB combination and that was not as bad. We were not the best defending team but they were not as bad last season.
Matip and Lovern partnership only gave away 0.8 goals per game last season (including the 3 goals conceded in Watford this season). There is a reason why Klopp chose to believe such partnership rather than buying someone who he doesnt trust.
Yes, Lucas was sold but he didnt play a lot of games last season too. And Gomes recovered from injuries who Klopp and we fans all think he has a future.

It is not about dividends. Few clubs are profitable but the value of the clubs are appreciating every single seconds.

FSG bought us with 300Million. See how much the club is valued now? The valuation is going straight up in the past few seasons. The revenue is also going straight up due to an increase of broadcast revenue. A lot of middle east and chinese owners are looking for a club to buy. You can see how chinese league owners spent in a ridiculas way.

The valuation of the club is going up and until it comes to an end, I dont think FSG will sell.

P.S. FSG is definitely making a huge profit from the investment in Liverpool, though the profit is not realised. Once they sell the club, they can make a huge profit. To be honest, FSG is looking for a business and not a hobby, if they dont think they can take the money back, do you think they will still keep the club?

Agreed above. Yearly profit is no way to determine how successful a business is. FSG have pulled off one hell of a deal buying lfc, and of course, increased it's value very impressively.

Trouble is, Newcastle would probably cost them in the region of £300m (I think I read that somewhere?) and we'd want in the region of a billion. I know who I'd be buying if it were my money.

For sure FSG is in it as an investment, however, I don't know what the club value is. I don't think it is making any profits of if profits are sustainable. Unless we get somebody who wants glory, I can't see anybody ready to pay a premium for a football club. Abramovic and the owners of City or PSG will never recoup their huge investments at least not in the medium term. I think FSG's bet was on FFP which didn't acheive the initial objectives.

There are reports that showing the valuation of the clubs. The value may be subjective to be honest but I think it is good enough for using as a reference. In those reports, our club have a value over 600M (in some extreme reports, it said about 1B, though). I believe it is a quite conservative valuation considering our club do not have significant debts and the value of players we have (Coutinho alone valued 100M and I just saw an article in Echo that market value of Ox rose from 27M to over 50M). Not to mention we have a large fan base.

There are a lot of potential buyers in China/ east Asia/ Middle east Asia that want to own a club. You may not know their names (I guess no one know Abramovic before he bought Chelsea) but they do exists. They are buying the clubs for interests/ glory/ showing off their wealth etc. They dont care about whether the investment can be paid back as they bought the club never on a resell basis.

I am not those FSG out guy. In my view, I am okay with FSG to run our club like business. However, they should employ experts to do so and they should be willing to put adequate investments if it is needed to. They should show that they care about our results as much as they care about baseball.

I think they are correct to get Klopp here. He is the best in the current market that can fit FSG philosophy.

As I understand our club resources are limited, that's why I also willing to be patient and give more time for the club to rebuild.

We are competing with those beasts that can buy players of over 50millions like buying toys and they have double/triple or even five times net spend when comparing to us.
Yes, our manager is good but their managers are not bad either.

We have to run very smart to catch them up. I would prefer walk slowly forward rather than sprint in a wrong direction.
