I remember arguing with the usual suspects who were bemoaning our transfers and saying what a good window they were having and how much ambition they were showing. Just shows, as I pointed out at the time, that the scatter gun approach doesn't work. At least those lot have wound their necks in now too.

Wilks, I think Everton have recruited well. The problem may well be with the Dutch culture from the manager. The dutch managers don't seem to do well in Engerland.

Koeman did very well at Southampton though?

They didn't recruit that well, Pickford and Keane are decent signings at best. They are playing Rooney as a central striker and he wants to come deep all the time, they have no pace in the team at all. Klaasen hasn't shown anything and as I expected Sigurdsson has flopped so far, just like he did when he got a big money move to Spurs. As for Sandro, the striker, he hasn't even come close to scoring yet, this is what happens when you buy players off the back of a good 6 or 12 months and not a sustained period.

They were always going to struggle without Lukaku, that guy is a goal machine and has been their best player by a country mile in every season he played for Everton.

have to disagree with you regarding the scatter gun approach as for me it does work...Big Sami, Smicer, MCAllister, Babbel, Barmby, Henchoz and Hamann were all signed using the scatter gun approach with most turning out to be decent enough signings wouldn't you agree..
I think Everton will get stronger as the season goes on, when you bring that many new faces in it's bound to have an unsettling effect on the team and don't forget two of there best players are away on long term injury in Coleman and Bolasie who are big misses...would go as far as to say Bolasie was a far better player for Palace than Mane was for Southampton so that shows how big a Miss he is.....just my opinion...
