yeap I do recall that *pre-season* when he was pretty good.
we put faith in such players then expect miracles
Ings played a few PL games and score a few goals before he was injured in a struggling team so these were not just in pre-season. You never know how a player will turn out until they play, look at Harry Kane, he was loaned out to a load of lower league clubs, it looked like Tottenham didn't fancy him, he's not particularly special when you look at his attributes, but he's just one of those players who is a very good all round package and has a knack for getting goals, i'm not comparing Ings to Kane as a player, just saying until they play, you never know, on paper Benteke had all the attributes to be a top striker for us, but it didn't work. I like Ings a lot. I think if he stays healthy, he will get his chance this season. Even if he gets a chance I don't think he will be the star you seem to think he will be

For ne goalkeeper has to be our priority And defenders. Proper ones! And what about our midfield? And what about our Goalkeeper? And what about our missing defensive mid? Hmmm, one could be forgiven for asking: are we building anything at all here? And one could be forgiven for asking why it's taking so long to deal with our many, many "priority" areas? But one won't...will one?

Makes it all the more bizzare to understand why Klopp was making bids for Monaco wingers when all these existing problems are so plain to see, I just think Klopp is making it up as he goes along, living off his past reputation in a weaker League...getting found out big time now unfortunately and it's to our cost..

But one won't...will one? We have Keita for next season so hopefully he'll give us the quality we need for the midfield. He's not a DM though. I'm not sure who these 'ones' are that you're refering to but quite a few here are questioning why it's taken so long to get the defence sorted. Obviously we're just a bunch of mugs moaning on a forum so will have little impact but if we're asking hopefully someone who matters is too?

The same things that lots of us are. I know you've only just come back from another hiatus but we've been questioning the lack of investment in the defence all season along with how Klopp sets us up. I think we'd be asking the same whoever the manager is. I'm also not seeing anyone giving him a free pass because of who he is. That may have been the case in the first year and a half but not really any more.

I just think it runs deeper than the players tho....why didn't Keegan sort it so easily at Newcastle, Why could'nt Roy Evans sort it when he had McManaman, Fowler and Collymore I think it's a flaw in the managers themselves, I really don't think bringing in better defenders will sort the problem, it's the way you organise and set them up that's the key and am afraid Klopp has no clue, we can't blame FSG for this one because Klopp was given more than enough funds, problem was he just directed those funds in the wrong areas like Ox Chamberlain and that kid from Monaco. Maybe Klopp knows he isn't clever enough to sort the defensive problems out so instead tries to out score teams.
