Spending resources improving the attack instead of the defence in the summer seemed really questionable to me. Salah is a good player but he really isnt an upgrade to coutinho and needs too many chances to score imo. We could have spent our efforts getting a defender who could stop 10-15 goals more than lovren since he's making a mistake almost every other game.

And if we compare this team and even the suarez team in 2013/14 to the team that finished second in 2009, I'd say despite the Benitez team having less resources to spend and some mediocre players that team was still the most balanced and complete of the three. The attack may not have been quite as good as the current team but the defence was rock solid and in Europe I always felt like we would go far. The saying goes that all successful teams are built from the defence first.

Klopp was protecting his players, mate.

Only idiot would be completely honest without considering the consequence of his words.

I think picking the team is one of the managers main jobs.

This is the sorta thing that will eventually cause his demise thinking the the fans are ill informed and don't see the problems for what they are he is pissing in our pockets and telling us it's raining imo
Re concentration if they can't concentrate then they are worse that is a major part of being a defender how can u say they not worse in one sentence then say they can't concentrate ? And what all of them ffs !


Persistent mistakes have cost Liverpool during Klopp's reign as the club's manager, with the aborted attempts to sign Southampton's Virgil van Dijk this summer not followed up by a move for an alternative central defender.
All of Liverpool's top six rivals in the Premier League added to their defensive options with high profile signings, but Klopp and Liverpool failed to bolster the key weak point in their armoury.





I had to make a decision and the decision was our boys are not worse than them.

Klopp hit back at the media for criticising his tactics and also the suggestion that Liverpool did not do enough to sign defenders in a summer when they added Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to their attacking options.

"For me it’s really difficult always to come to your planet, visit you and say ‘yeah you’re right, there were five good options out there and we missed them because, I don’t know, we wanted to spend the money anywhere else’," added Klopp.
"To cool the people down what if the new player doesn’t hit the first ball and he makes exactly the same mistake?

“Oh yeah, sometimes they make bulls**t, and we are not happy. Sometimes I see goals I’m angry about. Of course you wish we could have done differently, but that can happen. That’s really life.
“Sometimes we make mistakes because we are offensively that strong.”
