Not sure if this has been mentioned but I see city have released bacary sagna. If it was possible to sign him do people think he would be worth a shot? He's getting old at 34 but could he improve our defensive options until we can sign Djik?

He's a LB, we need a CB, so no I don't think he'd be worth signing

Sagna is a right back and I don't think he'd be a worthwhile signing. I wouldn't have minded Zabaleta on a free because of his experience and I think he's been a brilliant full back over the years.

The only RB we have now is TAA, who is a teenager.
Why not bring in Sagna on a short term lease (until end of January 2018, when we either have Clyne back or have been able to get another RB in)?

Ok, so we are going to play in CL and PL with Gomez, Flanagan or TAA as our RB then? We don't need more experience than that before Clyne is back?
Sorry, but that will risk us being out of CL before the knock out stages, and also out of reach of a top 4 place before Clyne gets back.
Did you see how TAA performed yesterday? One or two more setbacks like that and he will start to crumble under a loss of confidence.
We have the weakest defence among the teams that probably will finish top 6 in PL. And that is when we play our strongest defence - which means Clyne or TAA at rb.
I don't dare to think what we will look like if we put out even more untested players in our defence.
A little more experience is what we need until the back line can get a permanent upgrade (when will that happen?). So as a stop gap solution I wouldn't mind Sagna. Not a player I would choose as a N:o 1 or 2 target, but certainly better than what we currently have at our disposal.

I'd sooner trust our young players than stunting their development by signing a player who is so clearly past his best. With some older players, like Gary McAllister, you can see how they will benefit the squad with their experience. I think someone like Zabaleta could do this but I don't get the same impression from Sagna, for whatever reason.
