The problem is if we sell him now we only have about a week to get players in, I can see us selling him and not bringing anyone in, which is the worse case scenario as the team is weakended.
If FSG/Klopp know they intend to sell and we are just holding out for the best price (nowt wrong with that), then we should be prepared for that by going out and bring players/his replacement in now, while we have time before the window shuts.
Mahrez looked good yesterday, we should go get him, also test Tottenham going for Eriksen, he's be the perfect replacement for Coutinho.
yes have to agree with there not being a lot of time to bring somebody in but that comes back to having an incompetent manager who should of had things in place long before this stage given we all knew well in advance this situation was coming...very poor... Have to disagree, I think an incompetent manager would panic and bring in panic buys like Balotelli who do not match their requirements, a competent manager keeps their head and sticks to their guns, Klopp has said he wants to bring in players, but he wants the right ones for his team.

Agree completely. He's proven competence for now, but that is only on the face of it. If he does sell and not replace, then that would be a highly difficult situation to accept.

I think it is a bit of both. But he is certainly showing his true colors.

Have to disagree, I think an incompetent manager would panic and bring in panic buys like Balotelli who do not match their requirements, a competent manager keeps their head and sticks to their guns, Klopp has said he wants to bring in players, but he wants the right ones for his team. so a competent manager targets only two players who are at Clubs that have already said many times over the players are not for sale, a competent manager puts his eggs in this basket kicks off the new season with the same problems which has haunted us since he arrived and with about 2 weeks to go before the transfer window shuts until next January. Listen all about opinions...in my opinion to have no back up plan is foolish and incompetent and it will be even worse if Coutinho moves as he has no back up player there which is rank poor management because we all knew about the Barcelona link back in January...8months ago... What managers say in public and what they do behind the scenes are often completely different, we do not know what's happening behind the scenes. Klopp will have alternative targets I am sure, he is still probably trying to get his primary targets, we have said Coutinho is not for sale, but we all know he probably is at the right price/circumstance, I expect there's a similar position for VvD and Keita, the next week will be very interesting. Equally, Klopp doesn't want to squander the money he has on players that will not fit in to what he needs, we don't want more buys like Balotelli/Markovic/Llori/Carroll. I expect we will bring in 1 or 2 players, who they are we will have to wait and see.

As far as I'm concerned he is a ungrateful cur. On 150k per week. The least he can do is earn his money each week by playing and not looking like he has swallowed a wasp.
He signed his 5 year contract, his agent, if he wanted a move should have told Barca to stop mucking us around with daft bids and offer 150million cash straight. The same as PSG paid the Neymar money in 1 lot.

Yep, he needs to remember we rescued him from the Inter reserves and gave him the chance to play regular football and develop, Barca will struggle this year against RM, so it won't be easy to play there, he will get pelters as the new star if they don't do well, especially if he is inconsistent, like we have seen.
I don't know why clubs just don't make their best offer and say that's it, no more, clubs like Barca bid and say they will be back with more if its not accepted, what incentive is there to accept an initial bid from a club, as they know if they turn it down they will be back with a bigger bid, like we did with Keita?

I don't agree the whole "we rescued him" nonsense. He had the talent, and could have shown it at any number of clubs. We might have given him a platform, but nothing more. We're not some sanctimonious club offering players the chance of a lifetime.

I think the question needs looking at.
Has Coutinho downed tools and is refusing to play?
Or has he really got a bad back?
I had a uncle off work for months with a bad back, have Barca got a ingenious cure for bad backs which would get Coutinho fit if he signs for them.
Will his bad back get better after September if he stays with us.
Or is he a ungrateful little cur getting paid over 150k per week and refusing to play for us and subsequently acting like a spoilt brat?
Your views. Fucck all wrong with his back imo. The little cvnt just has it up like a spitting cat that's all. Nothing a good kick in the arse wouldn't sort out...god be with the old days, that's all I can say!
