I'll ask you the same, if that was us would you be happy and applauding our intent and ambition?

Their net spend is higher than us and not only in this window, at least so far. I think they have improved despite losing Lukaku

NET spend is more this window but hasn't been in the past. Where will their goals come from?

I'm fine with people thinking this is ambition and intent on their part. But no one is actually saying whether they'd be happy had we signed all those?

Didn't they out spend us in Jan, I would think so.

Obviously as we didn't buy anyone.

So answer the question.

We don't need all those players but would have signed Keane instead of nobody as now, don't think we need Sigurdson though he is a good player,Pickford is better that Karius from what I seen, would have offered more competition to Mignolet at the very least. I don't know Davy Klassen. So at least 1, probably 2 and at most 3 players.

So why is it such a show of intent if only three at a push would be any good for us?

They are coming from behind us, so needed more players out of which 2 or 3 would have improved our squad. They also spent more than us in the last window and currently more than us, so they are showing more intent though they probably won't be able to catch up over 2 windows. If we both continue our respective trends, then they have a good chance of overtaking us in a couple of seasons.

Maybe beacause they are coming from a lower level?

They might have strengthened by bringing in each and every one of those players - whereas we wouldn't since our squad was in a better shape than theirs?

It's still intent from their perspective if that's the case.

But as you say Wilks: They have also lost Lukaku, which will be very hard to replace for them.

I'd like to add that I would also have put my money on 2-4 new players at a higher level than 10 at a lower level. We all know how the scatter gun approach has worked out for us.

Time will tell whether they will adapt a better approach going forwards, or if this is just a one off window for them.

They've only bought players that would suit their position. The only player they bought that could improve us is Keane. If they were showing real intent then they'd have kept Lukaku and bought fewer players but of a higher standard.

This is their owner trying to win their fans over by just buying everyone he can. Trouble is they're all average and if you think just buying average players will make them better than us then you're wrong.

Who they buy depends a lot on their manager, an owner can only show intent by spending as they are not supposed to choose the players. Keeping Lukaku was not really an option as the player had made up him mind long ago, even before the end of last season, a bit same as our situation with Suarez. So currently, for me, their owner is showing more intent than ours unless it's our manager who for whatever reasons doesn't want to spend, but this we'll find out in a couple of weeks. Whether they are successful or not will depend on who their manager bought and used the players.
