I went to St Mary's last night, watched them play (appear) Ausburg, they were destroyed 4 -0.

My point, Soton have had ALL sumer to replace VVD, they bought a CB a polish player (he played). As far as I know they not got anyone else.. As of the morning the status not changed - VVD not being sold. Pellogrini got massive issue, VVD signed extension when Koeman was there, he went Everton (not loyal to Soton), Puel sacked - club showed no loyalty. Pello there now - so VVD getting pelters for "lack loyalty"...

So Soton have an asset whom if plays from now (didn't last nite), will take about 10 games to get to level, so - if sold at Xmas, they'll get approx 10 good games if he stays fit. From what I saw they deffo need to sell and re-invest.

If they don't can see them going down, they might be different on Sat, they got Seville.

12 months time we may get a bargain, they believe no sale they can get top 6... Really that what they believe...

There's a current stalemate going on, FSG are biding their time waiting as long as possible knowing VVD is creating a tense atmosphere at Southampton, digging in his heels adamant he no longer wants to be there, which will aid FSG's cause on the price. FSG are also waiting for VVD to hand in an official transfer request which would mean any loyalty bonuses for VVD are dead. VVD's Agent is telling him not to hand in a transfer request because of the loyalty bonuses. Southampton don't want to go out and buy a replacement because the current market prices are so high and they'd need the money from any VVD deal to enter the market, they also want to guarantee as much money as possible from any VVD deal and are hoping more clubs come in to start a bidding war.

Liverpool FC have got to come out of all of this with a bit of integrity left intact because this window has been a shambles from a PR perspective! The ban on purchasing young players, the Keita chase, the VVD tapping up claim and grumbling apology! This does not reflect well on the club and WILL affect future transactions because clubs will use it against us.

There is little point in allowing this to fester any longer for the sake of saving money when our credibility is being shot to pieces. We can save face to a point and do the decent thing and sit down with Southampton and negotiate NOW and allow ALL parties to come out of this happy!

Hiya KopP, The new manager at Soton used to play for us and coached for a while under Rafa...

It appears Soton run the money ball system, they quote it as black box recruitment, so like us they recruit a player train and improve them, sell them for a profit.

So I believe they will sell, 6 -7 times the cost, great profit for 2 seasons or so...

What about Barca, do they do moneyball as well, they just sold Neymar at a record profit?

Its unusual for the likes of Barca & RM to lose players they don't want to sell, last one I remember was Figo between the 2, that was a buyout clause that no one dreamt would be paid..... I wonder what then next buyout clause for a player like Mbappe will be set at, £500million ????
