I see that we have apparently placed a 133 million valuation on PC. This sounds quite reasonable, as a negotiating starting point - where we now appear to recognise that the player will be leaving. Only a few days ago, Klopp was insistent that we were not selling Coutinho. Now the club has placed a valuation upon the player that is well within reach - given Neymar's projected sale price. I cannot see how this sale can go ahead without undermining Klopp's position, significantly. If the valuation had been £250M, you could say that it was a genuine effort to deter Barca. At 133 million, it sounds like we are wishing to start negotiations asap. Is this how we will generate the fees for VVD and Naby? It's a very disappointing development that only tends to confirm the cynicism directed towards FSG, as being well-founded.

I doubt Barca would be willing to pay anywhere near that, it's almost twice their opening offer. Barca prefer to unsettle players then low ball rather than pay world record fees. Based on reports they're already trying to flog some of their unwanted players as part of the deal to bring the price down.

I'd be surprised if we have named any real price based on Klopp's comments, we should not name a price, let Barca offer what they want, we can keep turning them down unless they offer what Klopp deams sufficient, like RB & Southampton have been doing to us, I just don't see who we can get/attract to replace him.

We can attract Mahrez but need to do it quickly and we have Kent as well.

I've been impressed with Ryan Kent in pre-season so far. He looks quick and skilful with the ability to cross and shoot accurately.

Selling Coutinho this season is an absolute no, no! We should do what we did with Suarez, I.e hold him for another year, that will give us the chance to consolidate and maybe find a half decent replacement, which won't be easy, but we just can't let him leave this season, end off.

Agreed, my post was nothing to do with Coutinho leaving though, just that I'd been impressed with Ryan Kent. I think another season with Coutinho is the best we can hope for.

Coutinho hasn't travelled with the squad to Dubai.
This is the start. I've been sure he's gonna stay until next year but it just doesn't seem likely anymore.
We can reject all the bids for him that's obvious. But I don't think it's healthy keeping a player that doesn't want to stay.
This is turning out to be the worst summer in a long while.
