@reds for champions
Why do you continue to judge VvD on such dross? Omg I'm actually done with this, if you honestly stand by that judgment so be it , but just to let you know I seriously am perplexed with your process of judging players, actually based on how you judge players, "if" Barcelona or Madrid were after him it don't make things easier ! He'd be worth £100 million because of bidding war, so I actually rather Barcelona don't come sniffing about, I'd rather we get him for £75 million and put up with peoples perplexing opinions based on the price tag.
What was your opinion on mané signing initially ? Overpriced? Well, this is my whole point, Barca and Real are not after him because he is not good enough for that kind of money. Regarding Mane, I didn't think he was overpriced at 34m, this is why IMO we shouldn't go more than 50m for VVD though I think it would be overprice but acceptable in today's market. The right price would be 35-40m. Fair enough , just would be a shame to miss out on klopps top target based on 20m . But if you are correct and 50m is the limit then theirs nothing to do but move on I guess

Sakho at his best is easily better than stones so if we played him he'd easily be worth 40-50 million next season instead of 25-30m now

Van Dijk signed for Southampton for £11.5m. Sakho signed for us for £20m.
Van Dijk got injured in January against Leicester in gameweek 22...Southampton were on 27 points in 11th place and finished 8th on 46 points.
Sakho went on loan to Palace and made his first start in gameweek 26 in the 1 nil Middlesboro win...Palace were 19th on 19 points and finished 14th on 41 points.
If you judge who had the better impact for the time spent on the pitch last season then it's identical with 7 wins for both teams, although you'd have to say Sakho had the better impact because Palace were 2nd from bottom!
So we want £10m more from what we bought Sakho and Southampton want £58.5m more for what they bought Van Dijk less than 2 years ago?
Seems to me that the Southampton fans are the deluded ones!
Interesting that. Very interesting. I'd still have VvD over Sakho but it just shows what an overly inflated price they want for him. That is interesting , IMO sakho is a great player , unfortunate circumstances with LFC, I love Klopp but I think he took it too far with sakho and he deserves another go, ye I'd take VvD though but the market is inflated no doubt, it really isn't good for football, it seems as the prices go higher the amount of talented players decrease, messi & C. Ronaldo haven't been rivalled for 6 years ( the exception is Suarez but FIFA made sure he wasn't nominated ) Football talent in general seems to be on the decline? A world were ferguson doesn't rate pogba, let's him go for free , and is now the most expensive midfielder of all time, I think Fergy wanted to keep Pogba, it was Pogba who wanted to move as he wasn't getting first team game time at Utd and would not sign a new contract, Fergy didn't think he was ready, it wasn't that he was not good enough.

However, the market is inflated, we'll see.

If we go off the basis you're only as good as your last run of games and taking into account the new prem & tv money and price increases then Sakho made a huge difference to Palace staying in the prem league and potential financial losses to Palace running into the 100's of millions! VVD has been injured for almost half the last season and is a potential risk for anybody wishing to purchase him.
Yes we can manipulate facts to our benefit in that Sakho wasn't the only player for Palace but the fact is he contributed in keeping them up...if they hadn't loaned him their financial outlook is potentially disastrous!

True, but it's amazing how time changes perception though , Sakho and Moreno were solid when we beat Man Utd in Europa league, Although first two goals against Dortmund at anfield I think was sakho's fault, He is clumsy though , so no way is he ideal as a ball player, but he's still a beast in his prime.

We know that Sakho is a good defender on his day and hence why we want what we want for him. He's completely different to VvD in that he's more about the last ditch defending and hence why he suited an Allardyce style team.
VvD can play much better than Sakho with the ball at his feet but is in no way a £70m player and a massive, massive risk at that money after just half a 'good' season with Southampton and then being injured for 6 months. To see that Bonucci might go for £35m or whatever it is again puts VvD's asking price into stark perspective.

The Bonucci price is the Italian price to an Italian team. If he goes to a Prem team I'm certain the asking price would be £30+ m more. Bonucci probably wants to stay in Italy hence why he's going to AC Milan? The best thing our FA could do would be to put a cap on imports outside UK, going forward. Keep the lions share of the money here and let it benefit this Country in producing better homegrown players.

You'd think they'd rather sell to a foreign team though, than strengthen a rival, would be like us selling Coutinho to Man City, I'd rather he went to Barcelona.
