That's the whole point, buying only VVD won't win us the league, we still need a LB and probably a defensive midfielder

And we're also in the market for those type players as well as VVD and Nabby, they're not mutually exclusive, and we have the money even at the inflated price. Just pay it and sign them up...if we have the ambition?

Southampton wants 75m and Leipzig won't sell for 100m, let's say they agree on 100m+1. That would be 215m with Salah. Easy to say just pay, don't you think?

Over paying by around £25m for VvD doesn't show ambition it shows severe stupidity. I still think we'll buy him but not for that money.

Do you go out and just pay over the odds for what you want as if you do, you're another one on my list of people i hope want something I'm selling.

Rudiger is off to the Chavs for £29m. Makes VvD look like a right bargain that!

If those players are what Klopp thinks will win us the PL and challenge in the CL they would be worth paying over the odds for. If the players in question are prepared to push the issue, their clubs would negotiate well below the prices they're quoting now to try and scare us off. Sometimes you have to look at the value of what you're buying as well as the cost, it's not all about cost. What's dear today can be cheap tomorrow if they work out for us, and we need to trust Klopp's judgement, while holding him responsible for the outcome.

Well Klopp obviously thinks £75m is too much or he'd be our player by now.

This comes down to the players now, they have the power, VvD has already reportedly said he wants the Liverpool move, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd have now pulled out of any potential bid, so we are the only club interested, so I can see why FSG are not willing to pay the reported £75 million, we also can't really approach Southamdton after the apology we issued, they need to invite the big in effect.

Same with Keita, if he wants the move, he's going to have to say it, or Leipzig will keep hold of him.

It's about buying smart as well as spending loads of money and it's something we haven't done since FSG. I personally feel that Klopp will change that.

So salah is buying smart ? Knock him back two years ago for 12 and buy him now for 39
The problem with fsg is not that they don't spend it's how they spend thats been the issue buying 6-7 potential in the 7-12 mil bracket like they used to instead of 2-3 top players for 60-70 mil
That's there problem they were looking to buy players to make a profit instead of what the team really needed the class players to settle us and give us consistency , imo

I don't know if Salah was a smart. It yet. No one does. He's an established player now and we paid the going rate did we not?

And I think we have changed tack under Klopp. The only player that we signed last summer that was remotely like this fabled money ball was Karius.

Like I said, I still think we'll get him but not at the stupid price they're asking. And there's f not we've seen the quality of CB £29m gets you.

I would say the going rate for top CBs is about 35m based on what United and Chelsea have just paid, if you want to consider VVD one of the best in the world with ALL experience, then 50m. I don't think he has proved to be o world class player yet but we can go for 50m, but nowhere near 75m quoted by Southampton
