Assuming we get in a first choice LB this window. What does that mean for Milner? Just a back up LB? Plays in cups and covers for injuries?

Could he be used in one of the two holding roles in midfield? He's adapted well to a defensive position at LB, so he could make a solid option (maybe not as first choice) as a make shift DM for us. His lack of pace wouldn't be an issue and he'd be able to act as a deep playmaker, using his experience to start attacks.

He will play in the central midfield. This is why I am not too sure why we are interested in Keita unless Can is leaving

Milner is very reliable and rarely misses games due to injury?

I hope we sign a proper dm. Relying on Milner to win the league from midfield won't work. He's a squad player.

Yep. He's a squad player. Mr reliable. Always get a 7/10 but I wouldn't miss him if he went. Get a proper left back and let him do what he wants. We have a lot of games next season. He will play most.

No disrespect to James but was hoping to see less of him due to the quality we bring in,so yeh he'll be playing a big part again next season.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Milner is very good in midfield and will get games in our midfield if we get a new LB, his experience will help also in CL games where we do not have that much experience.

great that he will be benched. As in he is a great player to come off it. That is what we need more of in this team

I agree but is that a going forward in quality approach put Milner in the MF ?

I would say at 30 31 he is good injury fill in for a few weeks, but not months! and stand by we need better in our MF next season Good squady but not a 1st team regular imo

Milner is a very fit player, he would have no problem playing months in midfield if we need him, look at all the ground he covered at LB this season, he hardly missed a game.

Like other posters have said, he's the sort of quality we need in the squad/on the bench to bring on in games, rather than young inexperienced players in big games.

His cool head and experience scored us some key penalties that helped us get in the CL places, we need that experience in the CL, Lucas will be too slow for that and I think he will be sold when we get a CB.
