I love Rafa, and letting him go was a mistake, but he has too much baggage now. The ghosts of Inter and Real are haunting him.
I'd rather see this through. It always depends on the options that are available. Let's say this time mext year, we find that we've had another erratic season under Klopp. Surely we'd need to consider his position then? If so, I suspect there wouldn't be too many top managers knocking on our door to work under FSG. Under such circumstances, if Rafa had a decent season with Newcastle, then he'd be worth considering. Did you see what he did at Inter and Real?

Did you see what he did at Inter and Real? As I said, it depends on the options we have available at the time. In addition: - he wasn't at Inter or Real long enough to make an assessment and there were other factors at play in both situations - he will have learnt from his experiences - did you see what he did at LFC? I think we need to simply become consistently competetive first and Rafa may be able to do that for us again - He still seems extremely passionate - He would also be somebody who would be committed to us for a long time I suspect. I don't think he has any further need or desire to manage elsewhere Hence we need to keep an open mind.

What he did at LFC was more than 10 years back, what he did at Real Madrid is less than 2 years ago, inexperienced Zidane did better in a shorter period. He couldn't get a better job than Newcastle and in the championship, one could even say Rogers is doing better than him breaking all sorts of records in Scotland.

And what have we done exactly since Rafa left? Fukall to be honest...oh other then become a laughing stock at home and abroad.Add to that Montse and Rafas efforts in the local community and the JF96 cause and you would understand why he is so highly regarded in Liverpool still to this day.And before you start using Rodgers as an example please remember a man called Ronny Delilah won that league as did Neil Lennon, you cant expect anyone to take that farce of a league seriously.

No I am not taking the Scottish league seriously, what I am saying he is breaking all sorts of records there, this comparing like with like. Under Rafa we won 2 cups in his first 2 seasons and then we finished 2nd once when City and Spurs were not in the battle, I think we finished 5th or 6th in his last season. Ask yourself why he is managing a championship team after Real Madrid.

And we also reached another CL final, other QFs, lost to Chelsea in the league cup final, finished in the top 4 every season execpt his last I think. The point is that we competed consistently over a period of seasons in a way that we have not done since. If there are better candidates out there the fine. But I think it would be hard to find someone who is proven, has experience including in the EPL, is likely to stay long term and not use us as a stepping stone to somewhere else. Thing is though, I suspect FSG would avoid Rafa... because they know that he would not be afraid to speak his mind.

When Rafa was with us there was ourselves, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal who were the strongest sides. Now you have the same 4 plus Spurs and Man City, you could make a case for all 6 sides challenging for the league. If Rafa couldn't win the league then, he won't be able to win it now. And for the record this isn't me dismissing Rafa's achievements at all, I love the guy and what he did for us, and continues to do for the city, but there is absolutely no point in going back.

A couple of points I keep re-iterating: 1. It depends on what our options are 2. We need to walk before we can run i.e. we should be seeking simply to be consistently competetive through to the end of the season and over mant seasons Talk of winning the league with FSG is far fetched. It can be done once in a while I suspect with the best opportunities being when we have no European games. But whereas Leicester and Chelsea pulled it off, we wasted our opportunities under both KLopp and Rodgers. So all I'm saying is don't rule out Rafa. He may not be the best but at some point he may be the best option available to us. e.g. if Klopp resigns at the end of next season and Rafa does well with Newcastle, would we not conmsider him?

As Mighty said, I suspect FSG wouldn't touch him with a bar pole.
Rafa wouldn't do what he was told - he would speak up and run riot with FSG.
Not a chance of him coming back with them as owners.
Also I don't think going backwards is a good way of moving forwards.
