A quite simply awful performance from Liverpool today and the responsibility for the dropped points rests solely with the manager in my opinion.

He picked the wrong team and waited way too long to make substitutions. It was painfully obvious after 20mins that we had to make changes, we had Sturridge and Lallana on the bench and we persisted with Origi who has done absolutely nothing for god knows how many games now, it's like playing with 10 men. We were also playing against a team with no ambition so why persist with Lucas and leave Lallana on the bench?

Overall a dreadful performance and result and it's the managers fault. Why didn't we make subs earlier? Why persist with the team and tactics that clearly didn't work for the 68 minutes until we finally made substitutions?

how can you play for 6 hours against a club and not figure out how to score against them. He's a berk.

Another year at being laughed at because we bottle everything. Football is too far down the priority list for the owners and it is rife at the club.

Fans are being lied to, distracted by slight of hand and false sentiment and ripped off.

If Lallana wasn't really up for a full match today (which I can agree with), then why not sub him on earlier at least.

Klopp gambled with Lallana last match - why not now also?

Grujic is a big lad. Might have been good to get him on earlier too - instead of for example Firmino, who had a complete cáck game today again. Totally out of form!

As you say Chris, Origi is awful. Why not give Sturridge a full game, or at least 45 minutes?

I know we have been leaking goals against Soton in the recent past, but ffs we were playing at Anfield and they were defending the whole game! Did we need Lucas for this game I wonder. Better to go 1-0 up and then sub Lucas on to cancel the game out!

Now we really need to win the 2 remaining games, and hope Manure slip up at least 1 time!

HORRIBLE DISPLAY TODAY!

It's much better to win against all the other 14 clubs outside the top 6 and drop some points against the top 6 than win against 5 teams and drop points consistently against others.

Our style of football just isn't effective against teams coming to defend against us. When we press and win the ball they still have 2 banks of 4 protecting the goal. And when we do get the ball people like lucas thinks taking 20 touches on the halfway line and then passing it sideways is a good way to break teams down. I saw no penetration, no willingness to give some Southampton space come at us(so we could counter or even counter-counter)no plan b, no player with higher ability able to make a difference, and a manager being stubborn and refusing to play our best striker or make changes even when the blind could see we could play another 60 hours more and not score.

Klopp is showing way too much faith in Origi, as I've said it's like playing with 10 men. He offers nothing and is invisible. How he started ahead of Sturridge today and managed to play 68 minutes is absolutely beyond me? Sturridge did more in 20 minutes today than Origi has done in a month.

Klopp waits way too long to make substitutions and it has cost us big time today.

Sturridge and Lallana quite simply must start away at West Ham.

Why are you being so negative? The season doesn't consit of one game and one performance. Shouldn't you be balancing your comments with some positive statements about how well we played in the early part of the season? Or the fact that we didn't lose unlike against Palace? And that Milner got his kick on target?

A nice sarcastic post and thanks for copying what I've been saying for most of the season. I didn't see anything positive in today's performance at all and it was so obvious we needed to make substitutions to try and change the game.

Exactly. And when some of us saw this a few games back and could see the writing on the wall we got shot down. Hope this puts it in context.

So you foresaw the manager not making the right substitutions in a game that was weeks away? Because that is what my thread is about.
