We know there were 2 official bids...that has come out into the public domain from the court case at the end of February. However there's more information coming out that Broughton was making sure he came out of it with the least amount of personal damage to himself.
I cannot believe there was no other interested parties at the 300 mill FSG...in their words...stole us for! They started with a blank canvas...no debt. We are a sleeping giant, hugely supported the world over, the potential of our brand, especially how The Premier League has grown is infinite.
There have been interested parties over the years, like DIC, Kraft and Steve Morgan, but just because they have been interested a few years earlier doesn't mean they would want to own us now or back in 2010, markets and business changes, DIC hit a slump a while ago when the markets collapsed, so it's quite possible we had 2 bidders, and if there were richer bidders offering a better deal, I'm sure RBS would have wanted to take that as their pound of flesh, Broughton could not have stopped them.
MNF was interesting the other night, Ranieri was on and he said the final game of the 2002 season was the biggest game of Chelsea's history, we played them for who made 4th place CL, they beat us and got CL, just after that Abramovich bought them and changed the club for ever, if we would have beaten them that day, from what Ranieri said, Abramovich wouldn't have bought Chelsea and they were probably going into Administration as they were broke, maybe he would have bought us instead??? I doubt it as he wanted a club in London where he lived, that's the point about these billionaires, they are buying what they want, on paper with our fan base and history/squad, we were a better buy than Chelsea in 2003, if we were in London I bet Abramovich would have bought us.
