Been missing someone in this mould since Alonso left.
Have been linked in recent years with people like Gundogan, Dahoud, Geis etc and Henderson has given it a go but he doesn't have the vision to make those important passes between the lines and the technical ability in tight areas.
Personally, I don't think we need to buy someone for this position, I think we've got it in the club and aren't getting the best out of him right now in Phil Coutinho. Already our best player at the club, I find him rather "wasted" at LW.
When Phil first came in, he played deeper in midfield and was finding killer passes for Daniel and Luis. Getting on the ball all the time, working in tight spaces etc. I think this is where Coutinho 'really' excels and think he would be fantastic in a double pivot (in a 2 in midfield) against those "easier" sides or playing at home, alongside a proper solid defensively minded midfielder.
Would be interested to know how people think we could best utilise Coutinho and who they would like to be our midfield playmaker.
