You can still back pass to the keeper so he should've written 'back pass to the keeper and he can pick it up' rule.

your right but missing one point..Hansen to Lawrenson to Brucie...PICK IT UP for 5 mins....throw out to Nicol...back to Brucie....PICK IT UP for 5 mins and so on and do forth and in doing so taking the sting out of the game, frustrating the home support when playing away and more importantly slowing the game down to our pace, this method always working best in away European Cup games.

Complete piffle sir. To dismiss that Liverpool team as being one that won every trophy available to it by passing back to Grobellar is complete rubbish.

What do you expect shaggy?

As I remember, everyone did it and that's why they changed the rules. Most would kick off and it'd go straight back to the keeper.

Anyone remember arsenal vs Liverpool Harry Enfield the arsenal players surrounded the ball and ran up the pitch with it keeping a tight perimeter and scored what's wrong with doing that ? We would still be in FA cup tonight were I the manager

i never said we won all our trophies because of the back pass rule I said it was a contributing factor in the way we played and I gave an example of this in regards playing away in Europe back in the day.

you're right a team that is build from the back will benefit from tiring the other team out with not pressing effectively
