was it rodgers or raffa who used to bang on about resting players so they would be fresh for the end of season run in? Except it was all done and dusted by january back then?

I still fail to understand why players need to be rested.
Its 90minutes of football, surely if they are footballers at tge peak of game they shouldn't need to be rested.

I have no problem resting players IF and only IF they are tired or jaded, certainly not in September in Cup games a month into a new season and certainly not if they are fit, healthy and chomping at the bit to play.

If any players are that tired, they shouldn't be playing for us
I note we sent Sterling on holiday in January when played for us.
Has Pep given him a holiday this year?
Rotten culture at our club, which will take time to eradicate.

i find the whole thing a bit ridiculous. Either we need a squad of a million players to play high octane footie for a season or we change our style. at the moment it looks like we just burned out. that's idiotic.

Physically I don't buy it. They're not playing 2-3 games every week. Unless they're being pushed to the limit in training, playing with a bit more intensity than most teams shouldn't have them burned out within 4 months.
Maybe it's just coincidence January's been a blip, it happens to most teams, plus Phil's injury and Mane's absence has rocked the boat. If anything's to blame it's the squad quality.
Plus teams have gotten used to our style of play and when we start playing them again they know what to expect. Let's face it, if they nullify our front 3 or they're not on song, our midfield is average and defence will always gift you chances.
Throw Mane back in, it might lift everyone. Maybe he wants to get right back in the action, doing what he loves and what he's paid millions a year for.

Bless 'em. £100,000 A WEEK wage, pampared beyond belief, every wish is there desire, 24 hour medical requirements met, few hours training a week, and then a mighty push for a whopping 90 mins of real work <cough> plus injury time. REALLY got to feel sad sympathetic and worried for them ey? NOT! Fck 'em all I say.
