I'm not for Klinsmann at all and I know that there are differing opinions on this but let's not get carried away by the Board Room PR spinners who are currently trying to deflect the anger of supporters because of their despicable dealings with our former manager by fronting Kenny in an (apparent) impassioned search for a wonderful new manager who can turn the club around and lead it again to domestic and European glory. If you are falling for that your a complete numpty!
The Americans are clever, calculated, heartless, scheming corporate vultures - who have only one goal - to reap as much money from the sale of Liverpool as possible. They don't care about the history, they don't care about supporters, they don't care about the club, they don't care about the future! ALL that they care about right now IS A SALE! So it's dress everything up time, paper over the cracks, pollyfiller the holes, hide the rot. This new appointment is for media attention, it's about photo opportunities and TV time, it's about making everything look good. And if you think for ONE MINUTE that they haven't thought this through in minute detail, made their plans, drawn up their PR campaign for the next six months - then you know absolutely NOTHING about business.
Which is what this is all about - not Sport, not football but the corporate raiding of a multi-million pound corporation that will make them significantly richer.
If you were selling the club - who would YOU want in the shop window - certainly not Benitez. That Klinsmann guy is very photogenic, with lots of media connections and the chance of picking up his US friends in sponsorship deals. He'd do nicely.
The fact that he would not fit in with the "Liverpool Way" or be welcomed by supporters (most of the sheep would "fall in love" with him through a focused PR media campaign - I guarantee it), or that he could "do the job" - would not matter one bit to the Americans - who by the way are making this decision - as long as he looks good and will "tow the line" and talk up the owners in the short term, he will do just fine.
I would like to see a top manager come and re-energize us and steady the ship - sadly, I just don't think that is what is going to happen.
