So many comments about how poor the league has been this season by Wenger today...
"After that, I think 2016, the second part of the season, we have moved our level up but we are in the middle of the championship now and overall it was a very promising Premier League with the best managers of the world all in the Premier League, competing, and it promised to be an exceptional year and until now I think it was disappointing on all levels… because we have not produced the games, the Premier League has not produced the games that are remembered.
"I am convinced that in them second half of the season the level and the spectacularity of our league will go up, but we have some responsibility to do that, to achieve that."
"I think everybody is under pressure first not to lose. Every game has become so important, maybe as well because the difference between the favourite teams and the smaller teams make the fact that some teams just defend.
"I just feel there is more in the league than what we’ve produced. I include myself in that and you always think that a Premier League year is remembered as well by the two or three games that were absolutely spectacular.

"At the moment we have not produced that as a league. I include myself in that. I just think we have the best managers in the world in this league and I’m sure in the second part of the season, when everyone really has to go for it and it’s not anymore 'wait and see’ but ‘go and take’, we will see some spectacular games. But we have not completely produced. It’s a very good league, every game is absolutely super difficult.
"But the spectacular side that everybody expected until now has not come out of this league now."
Are we the wrong fanbase to be seeing these comments. I've certainly been disappointed by Arsenal, but the league as a while is not entirely fair.

Wenger has a good eye for playing talent and Arsenal have the squad to win the league, but he is gutless and is a poor leader and that is their problem. He is also a bitter old fart. Such a typical superior French knnnnigggittt..

Never understood clubs like Arsenal in that they won't win the league, won't get relegated so League is dead competition, he fields weak teams in all the domestic cup games so has no real intention to win them and they get bounced out of the champions league first decent team they play in the knock outs. I think Arsenal is a businesses dream because he obviously managers just to make the business a proft each season which all credit he does but for a customer point of view I really don't see what's in it for them. I see Liverpool in a similar way, it's great if your a customer and have shares or some sort of investment in the club in that if they make a proft you get some sort of return on your investment but for a fan or supporter type of thing there's absolutely no benefit in it for you, correct me if you think I have this wrong in the way we have oparated last 10 years or so am interested....

The owners of clubs may see fans as customers but the fans don't care what they think. Ultimately the fans are collectively more powerful than any owners. Of course there's a benefit. Having an interest or something / someone to follow enables people to escape from certain things in their lives. It also creates memories, with loved ones for example.

It also creates memories, with loved ones for example. yes fully understand where your coming from, my point of view comes from the fact those cherished memories of the past are becoming more and more distant and tarnished the more the business side takes over. I know it was a business back under John Smith and Peter Robinson but the football side was never overshadowed by the money, even under David Moores you just knew although he was loaded he wanted exactly the same as you and me as in success on the pitch, trophies and days out at Wembley. The problem over the last 15 years or so is the owners are blatant in trying to fleece fans, there not even subtle about the fact and this is what's tarnishing my great memories of the past. I accept that's the stage I am at now where I see little or nothing of the Club I loved and supported from the past but mark my words every single person on here will eventually reach the point I did maybe not now but definitely in the coming years the more the business tightens its grip and becomes more and more blatant that money comes before success on the pitch....

It is rediculous for Wenger to complain about "the great divide" that evolved in the EPL where the lower sides are just there to survive. Arsenal were one of the first EPL clubs to be bought out by overseas investors who pumped gezillions of euros into the club and sought to dominate the league.
Wenger would not be making any of these statements in the press if Arsenal were top of the league this week and if Arsenal had infact dominated the league even for a short time in the last 20 years.
As far as clubs being about fans or the owners, if the EPL was in the United States, it is not unlikely that the current owners of Liverpool FC may at some time re-locate the "franchise" to another city where the punters are easier to dictate to and have more money to spend on tickets and merchandising.

I touched on this in an earlier thread and can 100% see it happening in the non too distant future, too much money involved for it not to in my opinion...
