I'm not convinced by Wijnaldum at all if I'm honest and I'd be starting Can ahead of him. At the moment he just seems a steady keep the ball moving type of midfielder, very similar to Joe Allen in the same position.

He was brought in to replace Joe Allen and he is physically better than Allen in the defensive role. I had the same feeling at the beginning but I see him with Henderson the powerhouse we need in the midfield. Can makes too many mistakes when passing the ball

If you look at this season Can has offered a bigger goal threat and in my opinion is more powerful and mobile than Wijnaldum.

Can does have a habit of giving the ball away with overly ambitious passes sometimes, It's hard to judge Can or Wijnaldum as neither player has had a good run of 10-15 games in the same position due to injuries. I think it's good we have good quality players fighting for a position in the team, so makes the bench/squad stronger, rather than when we had the likes of Lucas with no real competition so they were straight in the team.

Wij is the un-song hero in the midfield

His work rate is amazing and he uses the ball very well..

Matic, Kante don't do much in the team in terms of creating or scoring goals
But they are very important to the defence , keeper and the way Chelsea play ..

I agree, but I think he was also brought in as he does get goals while playing that position, for too long we played with the likes of Lucas where it became a joke he never scores, with players and coaches laughing when he tried, as a footballer they should coach all the players to improve them, we need goals from all over the team like we are getting now, rather than relying on the likes of Torres/Suarez/Gerrard to win the game.

Klopp plays Lallana in his natural position of ACM and he starts showing his Southampton form

Play wij as a ACM and he will add goals to his game ...

As soon as klopp signs a natural DM ( kondogbai ) , can see wij playing higher up the pitch

Who is Wijnaldum going to play instead of? He won't get a game ahead of Coutinho, Firmino, Mane or Lallana when all available.

I wanted Kondogbia when he left Monaco, I'd be very happy if we sign him.

Matic and Kante are known and classed as proper defensive or holding midfielders though. Wijnaldum was brought in as a box to box midfielder who scores goals, like he did at Newcastle. He is a very different player to a Matic or Kante.

I think Klopp wants Wij as a defensive midfielder, as he has that goal threat, I don't think he wants just a defensive midfielder like a Lucas, he expects the team to move and rotate like we do upfront, so if Wij go's forward, someone like Henderson/Can drops into that position for cover.

Henderson is our most deep lying midfielder. He often picks up the ball between the centre halves, the two midfielders who play alongside him in a 3 man midfield, lately Lallana and Wijnaldum, have the license to go forward and make things happen. In this position Lallana has been exceptional so far this season.

Yep, Henderson also gets forward and sprays the ball around, he did a pass yesterday that if De Bruyne would have done it they would have fawned all over it, to be fair, Sky called it De Bruyne'sque, maybe next time De Bruyne does a good 40 yard pass into space it should be 'Henderson'esque'.

The point is Klopp wants the midfield to all be comfortable on the ball and press forward with the ball, and to be able to rotate and cover, not just for 1 DM to sit there and the rest bomb forward like we did with Lucas.

The Henderson pass yesterday was special, superb vision and technique. The difference however is De Bruyne does passes like that most weeks that directly lead to goals.

I'm a fan of Henderson but I feel sometimes he is too safe and takes the easy sideways or backwards pass. He has a lot of ability, as the pass yesterday and Chelsea goal shows, I just wish he would do that more. I honestly believe it's down to a lack of belief in himself, nothing to do with his actual ability.
