I agree, his performances have been abysmal and Carra and Neville are correct to point this out seen as that's what they're paid to do. He needs taking out of the firing line and should have to earn his place in the team, we have no chance of winning the league with him in goal this season unless there is a miraculous improvement in his performances.

I think Klopp is getting off easy at the moment aswell, poor decision to play him ahead of Mignolet who was actuallly in good form when dropped but he doesn't seem to be getting much criticism. His loyalty and faith in Karius has cost us 4 points in 2 games.

Migs has cost us more points in the last three years than almost all other top flight keepers. Bringing him back is like for like at best and isn't the answer. The only reason to drop Karius is to protect him from all the criticism.

Remember De Gea's first season? Give the lad a bit more of a chance eh?

Tbf De Gae did get dropped but I'm sure Fergie had a understanding of the lad (mental strength) before he came to that decision, sometimes it can work and sometimes it can send a player the other way.

I agree with the sentiments of the opening post regarding the OTT criticism of Karius. I do think Klopp took a gamble and perhaps erred when he put him in the team and I thought he had the opportunity to take him out of the firing line a couple of weeks back.

However, under the current circumstance I think it would be good for us, Klopp and the fans, to back Karius now. We can't have so called pundits picking teams and making decisions about players. Remember Neville's OTT criticism of David Luiz? In my view Carragher and the Neville brothers have been unprofessional in how they've voiced their opinions.

Whether Karius is better than Migs is no longer the point. In my opinion he hasn't been better so far, but we have to trust Klopp's judgement. He obviously must feel that Karius has more potential, is the better option going forward and therefore feels it's better to start giving him first team game time.

While I fully expect rival fans and pundits to have digs at Karius, I don't find it acceptable for our fans to have a go at him.

The lad is 23, new to the Prem, and a hell of a lot better than Mignolet in goal.

However the person I'm most annoyed about is Jamie Carragher, who started this entire bandwagon off while working for Sly TV, I hope he is too ashamed to ever set foot in Anfield again, especially his defending of Gary Neville.

For me Karius is right, Neville had 8 games as a manager, failed, and is now a expert once more.

I'm actually happy to see Klopp stand by his player, or would it be better the Mourinho way to throw your players under the bus publicly? Whatever your more comfortable with I guess.

agree. but the way he has done it is a huge gamble. Should he really have spoken about those stupid pundits the way he did? Perhaps he should have just said something like 'not interested in their opinions. I will make my own judgements' etc.

Now it might make him difficult to drop Karius for the wrong reason. The best way out now is for Karius to come up with a top notch performance.

Actually you are siding with the Neville's.

Just saw the stats of the first 10 games of Courtois, Lloris,E Gea and Karius and the latter comes worse in almost everything, Deg Gea did make mistakes (less than Karius but more than the other 2), but he also made a lot more saves. The lad is getting his chance, problem is, he doesn't look to be improving especially when you look at Bornemouth's 4th goal. It was not the first time I noticed him dropping the ball, but this time he was well punished. Problem is, Mignolet is not reliable neither though I would say he is a better shot stopper but worse with the feet. I think Mignotet would have saved the free kick for instance.

Based on watching him play a few games? No player should be wrote off until they have had a fair chance. Same [oops] with Firmino last year people calling him [oops] after a few games.

There was also plenty of posts about Suarez not being good enough either in his first season with us.
