Brendan's first 8 games of last season - W3, D3, L2 - Pos. 10th Klopp's first 8 games of last season - W3, D3, L2 - Pos. 9th
Yeah sure we did well in the cups, no doubt under Brendan we would have bombed and went out early, but I feel we would have finished higher than 8th in the league. Klopp was desperate for a cup win in his first season, Brendan wanted top 4.
We would have still come out with the same end result had Brendan been here instead of Klopp ie winning nothing, but the most important thing we would have had is stability.
Everyone on here knows I don't like Brendan, but I'm not going to pretend that Klopp is the messiah, in fact I actually think we've got him on a downward trajectory and not on the top of his game. I love Klopp's energy and his passion, but I also don't think he gets the club and I'm not about to jump on the Klopp messiah bandwagon just because he touched the sign in a friendly match.
but you've just said 2nd is nothing, so wtf what difference does it make? and this is the thing I don't like most about these pro rodgers arguments you have a point that is mildly believable then you take the p*ss i don't know if you're as deluded as brendan

However we were comparing Klopp and Brendy. Nice to see you picking up were you left off.
You're missing the point. People are slating Brendan by stating that Klopp got to 2 cup finals with the same team so that makes him better. However we have no idea how that season would have panned out as Brendan got sacked, at the end of the day we finished in a pretty similar place in the league as to where Brendan had us at that time. I was merely pointing out that making it to 2 cup finals is irrelevant as we didn't win either of them and we still finished 8th, overall it was a pretty [oops] season. Making it to two finals is entirely relevant, as it was 2 more finals than Brendy managed in his 3 seasons. Also, if reaching two finals is your definition of a pretty sh1t season then maybe you ought to lower your standards.

We were 10th when Brenda left so by law of average you could say that's where we'd have finished. The team looked dead and devoid of ideas as did Rodgers so a change needed to be made. We didn't finish too well and we didn't win the finals but with how the team looked when Rodgers was sacked, we'd have all taken our final position at that time.
Klopp came in and has made us play a lot better. A blind man can see it. The players we had didn't really suit his style of play so we suffered a bit in that respect. It's not making excuses for him just a fact. He's also been questioned quite a bit over his tactics and team selections so it's not like we're putting him on the pedestal that some seem to think we are.
We just need to sit back, relax and see where he takes us. Nothing else we can do really. He'll suffer the same fate as Rodgers if he fails which I don't think he will. Will he win us the league? Who knows. It'll be a tough task especially with the financial might of those above us but I think we stand more of a chance now than we did this time last year that's for sure. You still on about this law of averages rubbish? If you're going to look averages, look at the bigger picture, look at the points to game ration and then you will see. 1.61 Rodgers 1.60 Klopp

Rodgers first season: 1.61 points per game Klopp first season: 1.60 points per game.
It's official, Rodgers had a better record first season, and to think we were playing a 17 year-old Sterling and Suso on the wings!
Suso never played under Rodgers. he did

No one is treating Klopp like a messiah. But he has given the place a lift. He has experience at the highest level and that gives us hope. To say we'd have been better off keeping Rodgers for 'stability' is also just laughable. He has given the club a lift yes, but this hasn't transferred to the pitch yet. He does give us stability because we have a settled-ish fan base now and look like we could do something this season. But so far Klopp's record is down on previous managers including Rodgers, whether this is misleading or doesn't tell the full picture for the future it doesn't matter, it's a fact.

It wouldn't get to this if people didn't make out that Klopp has transformed us since he has come in. There has been no real transformation on the pitch because whatever stats you pick out the fact some will support and some will contradict. There has been no clear cut improvement up to now. We can leave it there, end of discussion.
you may be right there has been no real transformation on the pitch, but then he's only had what feels like just under 1 season!..it may prove today we struggle for consistency, I know every game counts as Dunk was saying (even more so if you're challenging, which in some seasons you might have to do to make the places) but it's matches 8 to 30 where we need to string results together, I don't care about the start or the finish, yes it's easy to say let's all be greedy lets win them all, but that's the marker for me.
ok then explain in your own words how we made 2 cup finals, don't talk about motivator, you can be the best motivator in the world and not take liverpool as far in a european competition as we have for a number of seasons.
Liverpool had one of the the strongest teams in both cups.
Say there's 90 clubs in league club Liverpool are in the top 6 clubs on quality and we took that league cup quite seriously so we were in with chance like we would have been with Rodgers.
Europa, I don't know how mnay teams there are, say 64 from the group stage including Champions league drop outs. We must be in the top 10 overall on quality. And when we beat Utd there was only Dortmund better than us. We also rode our luck a bit in the semis. So no miracles, Klopp did well with a competitive squad. We didn't win anything though, like when Rodgers got us to two semi-finals and finished 6th in 14/15 (not 8th like Klopp did after reaching two finals).

So less than we ended up with Klopp. So Klopp did in fact improve us on the pitch.

Oh that old chestnut. That must mean that nearly winning the league was down to Kenny then not Rodgers? And see my previous post and you'll see that Klopp's effect has shown on the pitch. We got more points than we would've averaged under Rodgers based on the first 8 games and a blind man can see that our overall play is so much better.

It's Unfair to compare Brendan's first 8games of his last season and klopps first 8games Why not do both of the first seasons games. Both took over squads they inherited and didn't want. W2 D3 L3 and 11th. You should know by now that people will compare what they want to make their argument look right. For me. This is klopps first season. Last season was 8 games old and no pre season. No transfers. Took over a team who were down and out. I don't know how people are trying to compare the reign of a guy who was here for 3 years with a guy who has been here less than 1
