but our identity is changing and it's likely at least one of them/both won't succeed together, as they haven't in their time so far.
rare bit of chemistry we saw between them last season in our 1-1 draw to spurs, and coutinho's attempted ball for sturridge against burnley, but I don't think klopp can get them both playing their best while under his stewardship. failed to win either final with them starting each. albeit they did combine for sturridge's delightful goal against sevilla. I don't think a single fan will agree with me, but that's why I'm here to Debate.
if sturridge is sold coutinho should follow suit too eventually, he's not irreplaceable, even if he is an exquisite player. in the incoming seasons we should look for a replacement for him, as we might have to anyway. but I think the gradual change in our identity would benefit from not having reliance on either player going forward.

Sturridge doesn't seem be on the same wavelength as Klopp let alone Coutinho. It's a shame, but he seems quite single minded - focussed on himself and his game. That attitude is fine when the team is structured to supply a specialist start striker or two, but that doesn't seem to be the way Klopp wants to do things. A good run of results without Sturridge in the team may result in us cashing in in Jan perhaps.
Coutinho is fine and will be part of Klopps plans I reckon, but in his case someone will come in with a big money offer at some point. Hopefully later than sooner.

I wouldn't like to see Coutinho or Stirabout leaving, what I'd like to see is Coutinho being coached by Klopp to become a more consistent performer, he has the quality and technical competence, what he lacks is consistency, if Klopp can fix that aspect of his game we'll have a world class player here, something we badly need. As for Stirabout, it's a different job for Klopp, he has to find a way to get him on the pitch and keep him there, Stirabout also has the quality and technical competence, what he lacks is either the desire or the ability to be a regular starter. If Klopp can fix that we'll then have two world class players here. That would be much better than selling either one or both. Now suppose Klopp can do what's needed with both of them, and then develop Can, Matip, and Mane into similar quality players, which on the little evidence we have looks possible, we then have five world class players here, and hey presto, we challenge for the title. Possible? Yes? Well I think it might be possible, and that's why I'm sticking with a title challenge this season, and a title win next season. It's on folks it's on!

Klopp's been here nearly a year... and yet a within 2 weeks/ 2 games of a new season, after a full pre-season too, Sturridge allows himself to be quoted in the paoers about his position. I doesn't bode well.
Even if we didn't get the signing we wanted, we should've started this season with everyone fully in tune with the plan and 100% committed and loyal to Klopp, at least for a while. Even that didn't happen.

Yeah that aspect worries me a bit, both Sturridge and Klopp have both been blabbing to the media, something that should be sorted inhouse and not in public. But perhaps they'll get their acts together and concentrate on what they're both paid for. Otherwise this season of opportunity could go shithousen very quickly.

He is but he shouldn't waste his talent if we don't progress enough. I'd actually suggest while coutinho is an extremely hard working player, his game is more like hazards and he is more selfish.

It's on folks it's on! agree btw it would be a minor miracle (I still don't think he was inconsistent last match despite his finishing not being perfect) can't comment on the 5 world class players, there isn't many world class players as it is, draxler performed outstandingly in the CL against madrid in wolfburgs win but he isn't world class. I don't think we should get hung up on labels, notice a lot of players are labelled world class mostly after they've won things it's what we have to do first ofc

I was hoping Klopp would in the majority bring in gems from Germany. However we got a mish mash of players...Matip on a free (looks good so far), Klavan an older seasoned CB (He'll be 31 next month!) from Germany's answer to Sunderland and Karius a GK yet to make a serious start due to injury! Rodgers gave an insight to The Transfer Committee when he left and so far nothing seems to have changed under Klopp. Mane & Wijnaldum are very firmly under the moniker of prem experienced and is where the brunt of our transfer outlay went. If history teaches us anything under FSG's regime if they are still here in January or at the end of the season, it is that whomever is our standout player will be sold for a huge profit and I'm looking at the likes of Coutinho or Mane as the most likely candidate/s. This Liverpool team is not allowed to have WC players because every player has a sell on price to FSG...Torres, Suarez and Sterling showed that!

I believe this will be Sturridges last season with us. Only a year left on his contract next summer. I'm not sure FSG will offer him a new contract given the wages he's on and the poor value for money he's provided since signing the contract, due to injuries.
If we do, I don't think he'd sign anyway given how things are going. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him move in January, possibly to Arsenal as he's already tried to engineer a move there this summer according to reports.
I wouldn't blame Coutinho for leaving if he's wanted by Barca or Real. I think that will happen eventually, but hopefully not for a couple of years.
