He who dares Rodney

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

I know your not a huge fan of Wilk what I meant to say was we cant just worry about "someone could be worse" because we had owners before who loved the club. We didnt have a lot of money but still won things. We gold sold a lot of lies from hicks and gilette and we got rid of them and got FSG. We should never be afraid of changing at Liverpool but I do agree the thing about the grass isnt always greener. I see this opportunity for Liverpool as a new challenge should we get new owners.

Yep I agree. Hopefully they'll sell up if the interest is real which I'm still not convinced of. We'd definately have to go some to be worse off!

We can't be like rabbits in the headlights, we should embrace this takeover if it happens, if it doesn't happen we're very likely to remain stuck in horrible mediocrity unless by some miracle Klopp can make silk purses out of sows ears. However thus far he s showing himself to be very human indeed, certainly no Merlin. Rodgers was no Merlin either but in circumstances similar to what we have this season he did challenge for the title. I think Klopp should be able to do the same. However with FSG that will avail us little, as we saw following the Rodgers challenge, they'll do the same again and sell off the best performers if and when a decent bid comes in. I hope this story is true and if it is I'll embrace it with optimism.

I believe the Chinese especially Everbrite who are linked to the Chinese Government are just one of many Chinese entities trying to open the doorway to a freer trade with the UK and Europe now after Brexit.
They bought a share of Man City back in December last year and they're still discussing the building of the Hinkley Nuclear Power Plant along with France.
Potentially buying Liverpool FC is another foot in the door for them to open up a huge trading agreement for goods coming into The Port of Liverpool from Asia as the gateway to Europe. Logistically The Port of Liverpool would be perfect.

I get the feeling FSG know this and feel they can get a lot more for Liverpool FC or that they want to keep a piece of the pie to see what the future holds.

I think 1 billion is extremely generous if thats the true figure. Considering in recent years we havent been a whole lot successful I think a lot of people at FSG will find it hard to turn down that kinda money. Id love to know what FSG really value the club at and why they think its as high as they set it?

Another question, if they sell up soon will the new owners possibly build a new stadium? Even after just completing the new stand? Some of these consortium's are really driven on perfection of facilities etc

Forbes recently valued us at just over 1 billion GBP, If you consider the potential in future for a freer UK and potentially freer Europe if the likes of Sweden etc... bail from the EU then doors are going to open for huge financial opportunities.
FSG are probably at loggerheads because nobody is sure what the future holds, they'll at the very least want their 150m for the extension aside from the 1 billion GBP from potential the sale of the club...maybe that's what is being discussed / negotiated at the moment and Everbrite don't want any other parties driving the price up hence their denials?

Whats even more unusual, FSG obviously know that fan happiness is on the decrease. I know its only social media but things like twitter have more people than ever on complaining about the dealings at the club. Fans happiness could be the difference between getting 100 million and 1 billion. Ill be very surprised if there isnt some sort of a deal even if it means a minority stake.

I think a lot of people wont read into what your saying about UK's potential because of a freer market because of all the clashes over Brexit on here but it is a huge factor that could mean a lot of money for both Liverpool/UK and China. So its something we cant disregard.

One thing I will say, I think we can all agree that some sort of discussions that are formal have taken place. A lot of respectable media and journalists are commenting on this with a lot of credibility. People that are "in the loop" at Liverpool.

just a thought lads

Yes sixties, in fact you could say they've been polishing the books since day one, given the way they've managed the club financially. It was always on the cards they'd sell up, if and when the right offer came in, but Henry is a shrewd operator where money is concerned and I don't see him selling until he's got every last cent of what he thinks it's worth. It's all a game to these guys, and they want to win, but only financially, the on field stuff is irrelevant, except in so far as it gives optimal return on investment. They've managed that very well indeed, thank you very much...financially!

We still spent close on £70m. That was only surpased by the 'top 4' and Spurs (by £3m). Not a bad outlay for the fifth richest club in the country when only the top 4 and one other out spent you. All the players that left which led to the net spend argument were destined to leave regardless of what we spent as they were mainly all shitte.

You can read into it what you want but I'll go with the most sensible and logical one and that's that we spent good money and got rid of players we didn't need or want. No conspiracy just plain old facts and I would bet you good money that FSG will still be in charge next summer and for a fair few beyond that too, like it or not.
