It's also being reported that we are asking £10 million for Joe Allen? he's just been a key member of the team that made the Euro's semi final and had a good end to the season with us, if he was German/French and we were after him his price would have increased £10+ million!!!!
We bought him for £15 million 4 years ago, transfer values have gone up since then, as we have seen with Mane/Benteke etc, we should be asking £20+ million and we negotiate from there, he has improved at Liverpool and at 26 is approaching his peak and has a good 5 years in him. has he? I know his substitution against dortmund helped him be the (poor?) deep lying/playmaker he is, but I think we only need to look at the capitulation against southampton to realize he's not good enough quality (only Can and Milner are remotely good enough, neither is henderson but he can offer something better to milner, not sure how much game time hendo will get though if he's not sold, we'll have to wait and see and trust klopp) good player to have in the squad. I agree he has improved at liverpool though, since the title challenge season. He owes a lot to rodgers. I think we can possibly squeeze another 5 10 million or more for him too, since he's been good in a 3 man midfield plus wingbacks (5) this euros, I don't know why more teams in the PL don't use back threes. swansea probably want him for 10m when the tournament is done, and I'd be stunned if sevilla offer him CL football to join leicester next season, but I'm allowed to have a different opinion When he played the last few months of the season, I thought he played well, he will never be a top player who controls a game (that we need), but a good squad player as you say, I just think he's abit lightweight, especially with how Klopp like his teams to be physical and press the ball. I have no problems with us selling him, as we need players to be more quality, my problem is the price is pretty low for someone having a good Euro's, we seem to pay over the odds when we are buying and teams play hardball with us for every $$$, but then we let good players leave on the cheap to get them off the books. I would expect £15-20 million for him, he has improved at Liverpool, had a good Euro's (could still win it!!!) and is 26 years old, so in his prime.

I would expect £15-20 million for him, he has improved at Liverpool, had a good Euro's (could still win it!!!) and is 26 years old, so in his prime. he has played his part in some good performances this remainder of the season, watford, everton, bournemouth, could even be argued our 1-0 defeat to villarreal away in the europa league was a good performance from liverpool. newcastle home wasn't though, I fully agree with your point about klopp liking his teams to be physical. It's quite similar to the 13/14 campaign he played a fair few games with gerrard/coutinho/henderson in midfield, decent player to have in the team but not the quality you want. always gives his all so if he does go he deserves a lot of respect though, as does lucas I don't think we can play hard ball too much, especially if we don't desperately want to cling onto the player and another club wants him.

Just read on BBC that we've had an £11.7m bid turned down for Zielinski despite Udinese accepting the same amount from Napoli!?? Seems like the English will be seen as a cash cow so move onto the next target I say.

Yeah, that's an odd one if both bid the same, maybe it's the terms, how long we pay over and add-on's etc? wouldn't be a shock we are trying to do it on the cheap, especially as I thought he had said he doesn't want to join Napoli and wants join us? I can imagine Ian Ayre in Italy trying to get his travel expenses included as part of the deal !!!

Looks like they have upped the contract offer and adding a player in the deal: According to La Repubblica, the situation is finally ready to move on with Zielinski accepting the increased wage proposal from Napoli.
The deal is worth €15m plus Juan Camilo Zuniga, who would then be sent on loan to Watford as Udinese’s satellite club.Sounds like Watford are involved as they own both clubs, so making it complicated. http://www.football-italia.net/86751/zielinski-ready-accept-napoliDoesn't sound like we're too far away from a deal and Klopp want's him, so might still happen.

I'm surprised they turned it down, couldn't we easily get kovavic for that price (not saying I definitely think we should sign kovacic but how relative are these prices).
