I like the signing but the price is outrageous. Another thing is he will be away on African cup of nations duty midway through the season so that's not good when we need him. totally forgot about that...that is a nightmare Only if he doesn't make the step up, if he does then we can live with his absence for the ACN. However I still think there's something funny/fishy with this relationship with Southhampton?

Neither would Phil Thompson who has stated now he thinks its too much but he knows nothing either with a few on here. However, spinning it around he looks better than Sterling and has cost us 16 million less so.......... BARGAIN! Can live with that The prices are just crazy now, I think we need to accept that a decent PL player who would have cost £10 million 5 years ago is now £25+ million, World class players are gonna be £50+ million dependant on age/contract remaining etc. Phil must look at the teams he played in with Dalglish/Hansen/Rush/Souness etc and wonder how much they would be worth in the present market. Time will tell but I think Mane is a good player and a good addition to our squad, we have paid allot but that is upto the Club/FSG to balance the books as a business, at least we are buying players and FSG are backing Klopp. For me, he is a replacement for Sterling (who we never replaced last year), so at £16 million cheaper, he scores more goals, is more creative and wants to be at LFC, so that's good business. Looking at our business so far, we have bought first team players for: CB (Matip), Winger (Mane), CM (Grujic), GK (Karius) for just under £50 million, all positions we needed to strengthen, which imo is good business for the money, they all strengthen our first team and can go straight in (Grujic may need time). Now we just need a LB and another decent CM.

Does anyone actually know anything about Grujic to suggest he will be playing first team football for us next season?

I've never seen him play, just seen a few you tube videos, he's from Red Star Belgrade and generally they are very technical players from there, so that's why I'm saying I doubt he will be a first teamer initially as the PL will be a very different type of football that he is used to.

I'm not happy about paying so much for Mane but thinking about it, any player who is genuinely worth £30 million plus in todays market would probably want to sign for the two Manc clubs or Chelsea. So we have to make do with "second tier" players and pay over the odds.
Did we have any serious competition whilst signing him? If not, that is a cause for worry. Otherwise we just have to trust in Klopps judgment. He's stated via the official website his confidence in the player, and until I've seen him perform in the red shirt at least two dozen times, it's good enough for me.

Our Serbian kopite should be able to help us there I think.

Yeah I've done my research on him but youtube can make anyone look good! I prefer to reserve judgement until I've watched him play a number of games, whether that's for us or someone else and we don't really have access to watch Red Star Belgrade in this country. I agree on him not being a first team player to start with but hopefully he will be good enough and we have a Dele Alli type player on our hands!

I would rather have signed Redmond for 12million than Mane for 35million to be honest.
No attitude problem and young and British.
I guess we can also assume that Ibe is on the move in the summer if Mane joins. Young and British? Is that any kind of référence? How many of those have we signed and who can be called great signings?

That would be my position also, we have to wait and see how Mane performs, it's something of a test case for Klopp's judgement I think, I hope he's got it right, on both Mane and Karius, as these two positions definitely need strengthening. It'll be an interesting start to the new season, that's for sure.
