Slovakia can do what England can't and beat Russia. It looks now like it will go to last group game for England whatever the result against Wales. But if we are serious about winning the Euros we need to start winning. 0 wins in 4 tournament games under Hodgson, 2 losses.
My team versus Wales:
-----------------Hart
--Walker---Cahill-----Smalling-----Rose
------------------Dier
--------Milner------------Alli
-----------------Lallana
-----------Rooney--------Sturridge
Not sure about the shape but I would like to see Sturridge and Milner in the side. Walker played well so unlikely Clyne will play.
your not going to play kane or vardy? -----------------Hart --Walker---Cahill-----Smalling-----Rose ------------------Dier --------Milner------------Alli --------------- wilshire -----------vardy ---- kane No Sturridge and Rooney for me.

Are you serious? Yes? I'm not expecting us to win it but I expect us to be competitive and challenge.

Hope the Taffs stuff us. I'm half Welsh anyway. Stuff inguulund, and stuff their vile violent thuggery infatuated bare chested beer swilling big headed constantly swearing pot bellied union jack waving bragging cocky 'fans'. Ha ha, great bit of banter there Growls, but I feel you're a bit hard on your half brothers and sisters there, the vast majority are lovely people, it's such a pity that a very small minority do so much damage to the general image, though I think most people in the wider world can understand that. What I often wonder about is why do the British police not know these thugs and prevent them from traveling to the games in the first place? I know all the bleeding heart liberal arguments about human rights and all that, but surely there must be some pretext they can use to prevent this small thuggish element from embarrassing a whole nation?

did they not take passports off 2000 thugs a month ago ? Well if they did I didn't hear about it, they seem to have missed a few, by the way is that gang calling themselves "Combat 18" still active?

I'm a bit appalled at the end the way Hodgson was celebrating.
The substitutions at half time were a desperate attempt to save his job.
He finally puts England's best and most talented striker on the pitch and we eventually get the result. Wales were bad.
Kyle Walker was bad as well going forward. I think Wales targeted him and give him time on the ball because he's not the best on the ball with his distribution.
Delighted with the win. Playing against a team that sat back like Wales Sturridge should have started he didn't and Hodgson is very very lucky.

Lallana was delightful. Sturridge with a moment of magic. From a Liverpool point of view it was good. Milner and Clyne seem better than what we've got on the pitch as well.

funny that england have pretty much dominated both their matches, yet almost end up with an embarrassing 2 points, same as every other tournament can't buy a goal. we shouldn't be happy with those 2 performances despite 4 points, because we don't know how to play football in the final 3rd it seems yet, not even really in our warm up matches when we had vardy and kane up front, we had limited success offensively. now we'll probably be up against teams who want to attack us (I'm not saying wales didn't but russia certainly didn't) and will use a back 4, we could switch back to a 4231 and get the PL's top goalscorer kane (who has played a lot of matches this season so might be a bit fatigued) finally putting the ball in the back of the net.
anyone else given up trying to understand england in relation to other teams?
other than the welsh fans, who were laughing at our 1-1 with russia, they do realize russia actually tried to attack slovenia and showed how poor they were defensively. instead of relying on long balls, set pieces, and broken play against england, only did the russians really commit men forward against england at the end. that is the difference between england russia, and the slovenia russia matches.
I was going to post on here before the match I don't envy roy hodgson, and I don't think anyone else should of with the decisions he had to make.

To be fair, you can't blame Hodgson for celebrating a last minute winner, was probably relief thinking he was gonna be lynched by the press, I don't like him or his playing style, when he criticised the Liverpool fans that was the end for me. I think he just used the old Fergy technique of bringing forwards on till you score ! Will be interesting to see if he starts with the team that finished and looked good (Vardy & Sterling), or go's back with same old Sterling and Kane who look Jaded (Kane) and lacks confidence (Sterling).

Sturridge is England's best striker.
Successful national team pick players based on how well they suit the manager's tactics and they're ability, surely?
There's too much emphasis on the player's form when Hodgson picks his teams.
What are you basing Sturridge is England's best striker on? And to say Hodgson focuses too much on player form when picking the team is completely wrong, otherwise Vardy and Drinkwater would be starting. Also if it was based on form why have Sterling, Wilshere and Stones been included in the squad? With Sterling starting both games.
