So France got off to a stuttering start last night, needing a wonder goal from Payet with a minute to go.
I wonder if I am the only person who thinks Paul Pogba is over-rated? He seemed to be more interested in doing flicks and tricks yesterday rather than contributing directly to the game. He played some nice passes but nearly played his team into trouble a couple of times.
Also how does Giroud start for France? I know he scored but he is slow and him playing forced Griezmann out wide and mean Martial was left on the bench, very strange decisions from Deschamps.
If I was managing the French team I'd play a central midfield 3 of Pogba, Kante and Matuidi. Then I'd have Payet behind Martial and Griezmann.
Kante and Payet were the best players on the pitch last night by some distance.

I agree paul pogba is perhaps slightly overrated, I still think we'd be saying that had he scored that volley he hit at the keeper. Yes he was possibly interested in doing tricks and flicks to try and impress his potential suitors at man utd, I don't know about whether he was more interested in that than directly contributing to the game though, he certainly had the space to, with matuidi making many runs. I thought when pogba was on the ball near his half way line, I don't know if it was unintentionally but he helped france find the space down that left hand side on at least two occasions when romanian players were trying to put pressure on the ball.
Deschamps likes to play a big man and focus everything around it like the commentator said. I know this is not exactly a planned example, but giroud was able to put the ball back across goal from that free kick to pogba. I can't see france winning the euros with giroud, he'll have to have the tournament of his life, as will other french players, I'm sure they'll improve though, romania were a good first test.

I havent watched any of the Euros. May take a look at some bits on fullmatchesandshows.com, but I have to admit I cant get excited about the tournament at all.
And don't care who wins, as long as it is not Italy.
I would like for once for the Dutch to go all the way. they can play some super football, but their players don't give a sheet about the national team.

Well there has only been one match so far with the second due to start now. And bearing in mind Holland didn't qualify they'll be doing extremely well to win it!

Watching the Switzerland game and apparently their left back Ricardo Rodriguez has a £18.5million release clause in his contract due to Wolfsburg not qualifying for the Champions League. He's been a very good left back for a couple of seasons now and is still young.
He'd be a great signing and a big improvement on Moreno.

Me neither, only for someone who claims to have no interest, you do seem a tad enthusiastic in your opinions. Total disinterest. At the rate the scummy meat head vile inguuuulund inguuuuuulund so called fans are behaving, the team could be booted out of the tournament soon anyway.

Looking at the teams I think France are favourites because they have a complete team, from keeper to forwards to bench they have firepower everywhere.
Spain will do nothing as they are rebuilding and their bench sucks. Germany have been not impressive since their world cup win and face question marks on their defence and Neuer out of form. Belgium have stars everywhere but have a mentality issue that will hold them back. England is england lol, group stage or qf exit. Portugal are a one man team, sf at best. France to win it for me.
Back to Back World Champions baby!

Its always the same at every tournament Growler, the so called England fans that follow the team always embarrass our country. I honestly think FIFA should starting making us play games behind closed doors, not just friendlies either, important games. Every tournament its England fans misbehaving and smashing up the local businesses and every time our government or police force blame it on a minority, its not a minority, its every single time. Could you imagine if we hosted a tournament and foreign supporters started smashing up our streets and businesses? Their would be full on riots everywhere. Rant over!

From what I saw last night I disagree, France were poor on the whole and were rescued by a wonder goal. They were also poor defensively and a better team that Romania would have scored two or three goals.

Always the place where a few "names" become bigger ones, and a few unknowns spring up. Romania's Sapanaru was very offensive at full back. At 32, unlikely to be a big surprise to move to a big club but I was impressed with the way he exploited space and beat Evra time and time again. Evra is clearly the weak link in the France side based on what I saw. Coman made a big difference off the bench yesterday. Really rate him. We all know what Payet can do.
Embolo has emerged from the bench and already offered a lot for Switzerland in attack. Really impressed with Dzemaili. Again, an experienced 30, but really eager to beat players with the ball at his feet.
Rodriguez has been linked with the PL, and he has looked very very good for Switzerland. Really intelligent full back. Also, Seferovic may not have scored (so far) but has looked for lively, and has shown terrific movement all game. One to watch.
Hysaj has played one of the balls of the tournament so far for Sadiku. At 22, we might see a lot more of him in the last couple of years.
