Early days, but the Transfer scene is not looking good. The rest of the top 8 are all active and we are "speculating" again.
I know Klopp has been successful in the Bundesliga in signing developing players, but the EPL is a different ball game with at least 10 clubs with financial clout and seriously good managers and decent squads and they are landing seriously top players and they are all capable of doing very well next season.
I was expecting a fire sale of the dross and lots of serious bidding for monster players. Fully agree chesterville, it's a major worry of mine too. I was hoping Klopp is experienced enough to know that winning a two horse race in the bundesliga with a slow build and development process, is unlikely to translate successfully to this very competitive league, given the scenario you've outlined above? Deep down I kinda know his ego, together with a desire to accommodate FSG's policies, will overrule his head and we'll be stuck with a bundle of developing prospects again. With the very rare exception ( such as this season) teams composed of proven top quality, under proven top quality managers, tend to rule at the top in a competitive league. The stats prove it, and common sense proves it.

I was expecting a fire sale of the dross and lots of serious bidding for monster players. I expect a few to be sold like Skrtel (apparently Galatasaray have bid £8 million, I'd snap their hand off), but it is very difficult to move fringe players on who have big contracts, so players like Allen, Balotelli, Benteke, Moreno, Bogdan and Lucas will want big pay offs and big contract offers, I was hoping Rodgers might take some too Celtic but they just cannot afford it, we pretty much paid of Enrique at the end to get rid of him after he turned down moves last year. I never expected us to buy 'monster' players, that's not the Klopp way, and I cannot see FSG paying the monster fee's/wages. If we get Hector I will be happy so far, that's a very good left back and keeper we would have signed (still time for Ayre to f*ck up), which were 2 of our major problem areas (with Matip and Grujic also set to come in). We then just need to add some pace and creativity to the midfield, hopefully Gotze deal Is still possible??? I see Crystal Palace have been linked with releasing Andros Townsend with an £8 million release clause at Newcastle, if that is true we should be in for him at that price, he'd be an excellent buy to give our midfield something different, he has pace, can dribble past players, can score goals, good at free kicks, experience of the PL, for that money its a no brainer.

Haha, but isn't it fun that Hector was replaced by Emre Can at left back last night when the Germans were playing against Hungary? Do we already have a good enough left back with us in Can? He actually looked decent when he came on during the second half. On the other hand Hector was good in the first half too. Assisted to Götze's opening goal for example. On the third hand Germany were lucky to win last night. Both their goals should have been called off due to offside! I am guessing Germany are giving experience to Can of playing different positions, Can is one of those players who can player several positions well in Midfield and Defence, like Rodgers used him allot as a defender. The Germany midfield is so strong he would struggle to get straight in as first choice, so he is a useful player to have who can cover midfield and defence, abit like Dier for England. We need a specialised left back, Moreno cannot defend well enough for a left back, he is always being caught out of position and makes some crazy tackles, he is not good enough to play midfield/winger, he is abit like Glenn Johnson, where he is a mixture of both but not great at either. He's young, so hopefully Klopp can coach better positional sense into him, but he's been here for 2 years and he hasn't learnt yet, so I will not hold my breath.

You need hands To hold someone you care for You need hands To show that you're sincere When you feel nobody wants to know you You need hands to brush away your tear
That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

I know that's not the klopp way, but I think he will go big if he needs to. rumours of a 75m lewandowski move, although he may have signed a new contract and real madrid are favourites. Hector should make a good acquisition, I think amavi is the back up option if we can't land him, but as long as hector is promised first team football by klopp then I think the german is game set and match. he may have a lot of good attributes, but he can never use them to put together a run of performances, you might say that's because of who he has played for, but do you honestly see him doing that in a liverpool shirt, I can't. I know I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to liverpool players, we need to be signing CL quality, andros townsend will never be that, not even for 8m. you're entitled to your opinion though, I think he is a wasted talent too, but we're not a charity and we can't afford to take unprecedented gambles if we're not going to sign anyone else for that position, it would be irresponsible

Skrtel has been a good player for Liverpool, I felt sorry for him when he was parachuted into the Southampton game at half time after being injured for 2 months, he was well off the pace and really struggled, it made him look bad and I think he always gave his best and never complained/caused problems, letting him go was more based on the £8 million price tag which is more about good business at his age and the players we have now to replace him. Wingers are always inconsistent, I just think he played well at Newcastle in the last few months he played and he has something to offer, I do not think he is the solution to all our midfield problems, but he offers extra options alongside Ibe and Ojo (both promising but inexperienced), I cannot think of many consistent world class wingers, never mind what we could afford/attract, so based on that Townsend at £8 million would be a good buy, maybe with someone like Mane/Ox also, but they will cost more like £20 million and do not look anymore certainties than Townsend, most transfers are gambles to a certain extent, at least he knows the PL. We need an injection of pace in our midfield, we have too many players that are similar, having sold Sterling we have never really replaced him, Markovic is coming back, but he never struck me as having that out and out pace that terrifies defences and stretches teams.
